UPDATE: On a scale of 1-10, how bad do you hate your job?

PROS: Im working Im bringing in a paycheck Most of my bills get payed every month Im the highest paid person in the company

CONS: Im the highest paid person in the company I took the job because I needed work, not because it is a career I wanted I am at the top of the profession in the area I live, but if I drive an hour, Im near the middle of my profession. Not Cool. We do not do cutting edge work. Safe jobs. Boring jobs. Having this company on my resume is a negative in the job search world My boss is a severe doooshnozzle who doesnt like to do anything new or different. Not cool in this biz.

I could go on, The company is full of clownass douchebags (maybe me included), and Im going effing broke.

2 interviews in Nashville next week.

You're the highest paid person in the company and you're not the boss? Seems like poor planning by the boss (shouldn't he pay himself the most??)

And if the good Lord’s willin’, I’m a keep on chillin’, refillin’ and flyin’ high

You are the highest paid person in the company yet you have a boss? Are you a college football coach?

  • A solid 6-7 I would say. I work for a large, stable company but am stuck in a sitting at a cube day in and day out, doing the same shit.

I do enjoy getting a paycheck though, so I guess I should shut my mouth.

Deprive yourself of sleep, then start doing cocaine to stay awake and productive. Then you will feel like I do everyday. This will quickly move you into the 9.5 range.

  • Typically somewhere between 5-9. Its a paycheck and nothing more.

    Calmer than you are

  • 1. I work for a non-profit, helping veterans with their VA benefits. I won't get rich doing this, but it's a good feeling to know I'm actually helping people.

There are two engineers that own the company. and then
    Me: Mechanical/Plumbing Designer
    Plumbing Drafter
    Electrical Drafter

And me and the Plumbing guy share Fire Protection

When things go good, the bosses make more than me. WHen times are slow, I get a paycheck and they do not always get one. The risk of ownership.

  • 288...I'm so far beyond frustrated with the morans I work with. I end up doing all their work and I don't know if it's because they're too stupid or really really smart. I'm up for a promotion in 2 weeks though and there should be no way that I don't get it. Then I should be back down to about a 2. Love what I do, hate the people I do it with.

    Congratulation. You won.

I would say a 2. I love my job, I wish I could travel a bit more and was in a better city but I believe these things are on the horizon anyways.

I would freaking kill to work for a non-profit. I even have a few things in mind.

My dream job would be to organize 10 Pigs -v- Freaks games a year on different college campuses. All profits to StJude or PKDcure

    1)MSU
    2)UF
    3)UT
    4)Texas
    5)O$U
    6)Bama
    7)I dont know...but I know I could find 10

I had UT ready to roll until Dooley got canned. Not sure how Jones would take to it. But TnTech would be on board if I needed it.

If "above my means" actually means: "Sounds like you are handling that 50% paycut pretty well" then yeah, you are right.

I am 100% on the bandwagon with "just glad to be working". But Im not complacent enough to sit here and become a piece of crap human being just because I work in a crappy job. My skills are not being used here, and they never will be. But because Im not currently using those skills, it is tough to get a job ahead of others who are currently using them. SlipperySlope.

I am making half of what I was making when I accumulated the debt that I have, yet I still make enough to pay for all of it. The biggest problem is balancing medical bills when insurance doesnt cover shit. And excessive home maintenance on a 5 year old home. Oh, and for the record, the debt I have is: My house. That is it.

I have 3 modest vehicles, one with 150k miles, one with 200k, one with 270k. All are paid off.

    Right to Work. for less.

Add Army, Navy, and Air Force to that list and have their games go towards the Wounded Warrior Foundation and you would be gold.

  • I have no advancement, my manager and director have accused me of insubordination because I told them having a list of passwords was a security risk and a violation of IT policy, and there isn't anywhere open to transfer.

    That would be freaking awesome.

My plan has always been to have half go to MY charity (St Jude or whatever) and half to a local charity. So Wounded Warrior Foundation would be awesome. But for them, Id give 100% if I could.

But it would be awesome for Sparrow Foundation, etc, and other local charities. I just need to get St Jude, or PKD, or whoever to hire me to get this done. biggrin

I'd say 3. The company is good to work for and for the most part they value their employees. The money could be better and my boss could communicate better but otherwise it's good.

This is what I was going to say, pretty much word-for-word.

Just do it yourself as a non-profit(or create your own church)...You can pay yourself a decent salary, travel for free, and make tons of money for the charities all at the same time.
