One day sale for Kindle Fire Tablet Refurb $139

It seems like a lot of people here want a cheap tablet that missed out on the HP Touchpad fire sale last year. Amazon is selling these refurbished ones for $139 today, regular $169 (new ones sell for $199). Just wanted to pass it along.

My son's been wanting an iPad, but we don't have 5 sheets of $$$ for a 6 year old to likely destroy fighting over the thing with his 4 year old brother so this is perfect.
Really wanted the Nook Colour more though so... hmmm...

If you have a lot of music/media wait for the next one. It needs an SD slot for storage upgrades. I believe it only comes with 8GB.

For those of you picking one up, here's what you need to do:
1. Get it.
2. Install Ice Cream Sandwich, the actual version of Android, not Amazon's bastardized version.
3. Set up your Google account, complete with Google Drive and Google Play.
This thing has proven to be a pretty decent Android tablet once you get Amazon's crapware off of it. Also, you should install Chrome for Android rather than the older browser, as it has a lot of cool features, the best of which being syncing your desktop and tablet browser tabs.

Well now Target is clearing out their Kindles in store supposedly at 30% off. I would guess the Fire will sellout fast.

Dumbest thing Target ever did was partner with Amazon!
Then they started selling Amazon devices in their stores that pretty much guaranteed that that customer would never buy a book, movie, or music from Target again.

The Fire costs $199. There's not much more to read into the success of the device than that. It's what will eventually erode iPad market share away in tablets. The Fire's interface is terrible compared to Android 4.0. The tablet price wars are spinning up, and when you can pick up a 7" Google-branded tablet for $199 running Android 4.0, things are going to get real.
