When Ishbia and his posse of walk ons used to play at the IM all the time it wasn't even a joke how much better they were than every single player. I assume it's the same today

It normally comes down to PF and C. That is the difference. You don't get many big time 6'8+ guys who are in intramurals vs starting at a smaller school.
I had a transfer 2-3 on my im team one year from Northern, kid played big minutes there. Hell of a player, but didn't play above the rim. Stil fucked the fb team up. Never saw an IM guy above 6'8 who was great. Saw tons of smaller dudes who brought it.

I didn't know at least 3 of them were even on the team to be honest. Have we ever played that many different players in one game before? It seemed like a ton.

The real question is do our 5 walk ons beat 5 mac starters.

Walk-ons in a blowout.
Let's assume that, entering college, the walk-ons and IM all-stars were at a similar level. Now the walk-ons get to go to practices run by one of the best coaches in the business, and play against top competition in these practices. The walk-ons will very quickly surpass the IM all-stars.

Especially when you consider the 25-30 year old players at the IM. I could see a good game.

I agree with this, when I played we had two guys who transferred from D2 schools and both had opportunities to be walk-ons that turned it down due to the time commitments. I think between people like that and the football players you would be able to come up with a team that would beat the walk-on's about half of the time. The big advantage that the walk-ons would have is that they play together so much more than the all stars. I bet if you gave the All Stars a D-1 coach and a couple months of practice they would beat the walk-ons.

What about confidence? Walk-ons might have been solid in HS, but get beat up every day. IM all-stars expect their shot to go in and believe they can still take you off the dribble.

Being a walk-on is not about being the best non-scholarship players on campus. It means that you have the financial means to dedicate that kind of time to the program without any promise of return. There are many IM all-stars who choose to dedicate 100% to being a student, rather than chasing the dream on your own dime.

Yeah, but Brian Scalabrine is pretty damn good. 11 year NBA vet is going to be alot better than any walk on at the end of an MSU bench. Guy averaged 15.7 points 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game at USC. Over three years! That's more like throwing Adriean Payne out there than a walk on. Don't f--k with the White Mamba!

IM all stars will include some crafty older dudes ... So I'm taking them. I've played pickup with MSU walkons, and the major thing they are good at is shooting. Leave them open and you will pay.
