Interesting the emphasis on "small forward." I'd think of Parker as potentially a Durant-type guy. Didn't Durant play mostly the 4 at Texas before being used as 2-guard for awhile as an NBA rookie? Now, he's settled in as a 3. That's the trajectory I'd look at.

Izzo is at the Peach Jam keeping on eye on him and Kaminski.
Jabari Parker (Mac Irvin Fire/2013) – Once thought to be a power forward, Parker has transformed his body and now clearly projects as an elite small forward. While a lot of his damage came in garbage time with his team down by 20, Parker made some plays in this game that scream NBA small forward. He can handle the ball coast to coast and finish at the rim (although Noel sent him away a few times) and has range on his jumper to the three point line. His most impressive offensive move was probably an 18 foot step back jumper from the left corner that would have been impressive if it had been pulled off by a guard let alone a 6’8 forward. Parker and Noel appear to be separating themselves this week as the top 2 players in the 2013 class. Jim Calhoun (Connecticut), Thad Matta (Ohio State), Jay Wright (Villanova), Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Bruce Weber (Illinois), Jim Baron (Rhode Island), Ed Cooley (Providence), Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh), Buzz Williams (Marquette) and Tom Izzo (Michigan State) were among the head coaches courtside

This is sort of what I was getting at in the Harris thread. He's supposedly around 6'8" now, but recent comparisons have him as a Paul Pierce / KD / Carmelo type player rather than a "power" forward.
Id still love for him to be a Spartan but he seems to fall in line as being another wing that might have the potential to go down on the blocks, but is more of a 3.
We have a shit load of wings now and multiple options in the next couple classes (G.Harris, Young, Harris) and I still feel that we really will need a big man recruit soon.
In any case you would never turn this kid down as he's almost assuredly a top 5 NBA pick according to the experts.

I think this is a pretty good evaluation.
If you look at it, our only true big men for the future are AP, Gauna and maybe Kaminski, but all three of those dudes seem more of face-up/pick and pop type players.
We still have 2 years of Nix as a banger (and I hope he steps up this year and gives us something) but beyond that it really doesn't seem like we have any fives in the mix.
I agree, you could NEVER pass up Parker if he wants to go green. Izzo will find a way to utilize him with the talent we have. If that doesn't work out, I think you really have to start looking at big men for the '13/'14 classes.

#1 overall come the 2014 draft.
Parker: 'I Love Michigan State' (No. 2 prospect overall in 2013)
