Past 5 Years Recruiting Comparison

  • Sorry if this was already posted, I did a search and couldn't find it. My um buddy sent me this and I thought it was really interesting and gives a little perspective to the guys who think that we don't stand a chance now that Hoke-a-mania is running wild down in AA. As many people have been saying, UM (and OSU/ND) out-recruiting us isn't a new story.

  • More than anything this shows how tough it is to project these players. It's amazing how many guys on here I've never even heard of. Football recruiting takes some very good talent evaluators and we have one in coach D.

  • During that time, MSU is 2-2 vs ND. 1-1 vs OSU. And 4-0 vs Michigan. So either the MSU coaches are GODS at evaluating and coaching talent OR just maybe ESPN is biased for certain schools to sell magazines/tv ad spots. I love Coach D and the staff, but my money is on ESPN sucking off large fanbases for cash.

  • I didn't see this part. Number of Linebackers who can fly:

    MICHIGAN: 0

    OHIO STATE: 0

    MICHIGAN STATE: 1

    NOTRE DAME: 0

ESPN is definitely the worst HS evaluating group out there.

Also, you should go through and see how many of those kids actually contributed to their teams. I know Barrent was lost due to injury, but take UM for example:

2008: O'Neill Transferred, Stonum played 2 years and was kicked off, not sure about JB Fitzgerald

2009: Stokes transferred, Bell transferred (I think), Forcier transferred

    2010: Demar Dorsey . . . I'll leave it at that

    2011: 0

It says UM had 17, but let's not count the 4 in the '12 class yet, because they weren't on campus for the past 4 years. So, of 13 "ESPN 150" members" brought in from '08-'11, 6-7 transferred.

    Man, attrition hit them hard.

I'd be interested in seeing what the Rivals250 #s are, since 247 doesn't go back to 2008.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
