Per his Twitter account, Patrick Kugler committed to Michigan

Yes, it's early, but the buffet is getting a bit picked over. Some will say that the staff is great at evaluating talent (I agree), so it doesn't matter (I don't agree). The staff evaluated the recruits, and made offers to those that they like best...and none of them have committed to MSU, and a slew of them committed to UM. I'm sure the staff can find the best of what's left, but the choices are quickly becoming a bit limited. You can't consistently take the leftovers and be happy about it.

FWIW, Kugler grew up an MSU fan, and was scheduled to visit EL today (until he found out MD wasn't going to be in town). Instead, he commits to UM.

He was offerered in April; must be a fan of other schools too.

UM, Green Bay and Chicago teams all have one thing in common: They all suck

  • I count 16 OT offers for scUM and 5 commits.

I count 9 OT offers for MSU and no commits.(1 "favorite" and 1 "warm").

I can't help but think that offering 16 is going to get some to commit earlier. I know it's early, but this sucks.

Is Coach D really not present for this junior day? Did anyone ever confirm this beyond his name on a list of speakers?

Yes, they informed potential visitors on Thursday that he won't be in East Lansing today. Some guys cancelled visits, others who were undecided then confirmed that they won't make the trip. Kugler went to UM, Antonio Allen is visiting Purdue...not sure whether others took different visits instead.

  • I think there is a clear medium between panic and legitimate concern. People should be worried. They are stock piling talent, talent that we clearly want badly. I don't mind when they get kids who are michigan fans or come outta Cass Tech. I have a huge problem though when they get kids who are MSU fans and are turning us down during one of our best, most stable football situations we have had around here for a looooooong time.
