Post your Big (Jail) House experience here.....

  • Pretty standard for me today. Lots of derogatory comments, the usual number of unsolicited yapping attacks, etc. The worst part was having to sit through an entire game at that place with that repetitive fight song blasting in my face only to have a glorious victory snatched right out from under us. I was clearly disappointed by the lack of class by many sporting the yellow.

Oh, and what's the deal with the cop at the intersection who constantly throws tasteless jokes at the opposing fans and screams them through her megaphone? Super classy.

  • My in-game experience wasn't too bad today. I can't complain about the people sitting around me. They were all nice, and only gave me a couple looks when we scored.

I WILL complain about the goddamn parking and travel time to that goddamned city. It is absolutely horrible and it reminded me why I've never been to that town. There's nothing like waiting in traffic for 2 hours after another blown game.

  • It's an awful place. Will never return after my last visit in 2010, when I had to be retstrained from attacking Walvies who kept telling me to go back to jail. Nothing about the experience is fun, no matter the result.

  • The stadium was shit, but what else is new. Getting into my section was a nightmare. People struggling to figure out which ambiguously labeled rows/sections are which, and needing 5x the time to get out of the row because of the lack of space. This is the 3rd time I've been there, and each time I go back thinking "all stadiums are like that, UM's probably isn't as bad as I remember it". Nope.

People around me were chill. Section 9R. A couple MSU fans near but not next to me. I chatted with a UM fan behind me for most of the game, turned out he had tickets there for 20 years or something like that. There was one total douche 2 rows in front of us, ended up getting confrontational in the 2nd quarter. His chick shut him up I guess, because she cut him off then, and all we heard from him the rest of the game was an apology. I know, cool story bro.

Even after the game, the banter was minimal. Every sober person on the street knew that was one of those games where even the winner shouldn't be that thrilled.

I disagree about the result part, because watching MSU beat UM there is an absolutely wonderful feeling. It's worth attending alone for that possiblity every time.

Now, I hear you with regards to having to be restrained, or restraining yourself from going off. Anyone have any "close" moments today? Again, I'm referring to "unsolicited" attacks for the most part.

  • I found out Babcock (red wings coach) is a big time Michigan fan.

Michigan stadium seats 100k+ when it should only seat ~90k.

Care to share? Did you get into an argument with him while trying to squeeze into the gates at the stadium?

I was tailgating north of the stadium and he wandered through all decked out. Hat, sweatshirt, the works. Likely he's just repping the home team, but he was a maize and blue billboard. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that saw him.

Was it all new looking? High potential Brandon had him as a guest for the (soon to be canceled) outdoor game in the Outhouse? Anyone know if he has kids maybe olde enough to be at scUM. No matter, I will always see the guy as the Wings coach and that's it.

  • My experience was ok although I was surrounded by other State fans. The biggest problem I had was actually the line to get out once the game ended.

    SagnastysFinest

  • Section 11. Fuck Michigan fans. They are unbearable. I will still return.

    OTPT

  • Cut my hand open, Michigan fans threatened to "throw me out of the stadium" for cheering, got my backpack stolen, bought macaroni salad on the walk home. Typical saturday. Also I got called ugly a lot. I'm like a 6 let's be real.

Edit: in retrospect, I probably swore around children a lot more than I should have

  • Took a drunk nap (passed out), up again drinking at 5:30am. Why do I care about football, fuck. Go state.

    Kutcher Nuget

  • Sat next to some insufferable fans with all the usual refrains:

Snide remarks about Le'veon for heisman
    Ag school
" I was the smart one, the rest of my friends went to State"
Yeah you're 4-0 against mich but still haven't been to rosé bowl

The only redeeming thing coming out of it was my 11 yr old son got a taste of "michigan fan". Of course I had come backs for everything stated above but needed to be a little muted with my little guy there. After the game I told him that if he winds up going to mich, he better never turn into that type of "fan"

Oh, and waiting 30 min in line to use a Porto John on the golf course made for great tailgating experience. But having been there in 2010, there is nothing, and I mean nothing sweeter than winning there' and as a previous poster said, that makes it worth the risk of going and losing.

I was in Section 7, packed in tight as usual. There was a bit of a confrontation a few rows in front of us with a um and MSU fan getting into it. A few of us were waving for security to come down and break it up. In the meantime, the biggest Wal Mart Wolverine ever, wearing a What Would Bo shirt, started yelling at me, saying um fans get beat up when they go to Spartan Stadium, so let your guy get his ass kicked here.. I mean he was screaming at me. Seriously, all I was trying to do, (as well as several um fans) was to get the attention of the ushers. But this Wal Mart Wolverine was in my face looking for trouble. I ignored him but told my son that if we won, we'd be in trouble with this guy, even if it was totally unprovoked.

I hate that place, from the traffic, to parking, to squeezing in your 6" wide seat to leaving and taking abuse from the worst fan base in the country.

  • Unrelated but there was a guy wearing maize and blue in the student section at Spartan Stadium in 2010 - during the Notre Dame game. It was unreal. I would have let it go but he stood right in front of me, crowding me with his back, and I asked him to move over because there was no space. He immediately got in my face and asked if I "wanted to go." I snapped and gave him lip back and it escalated to the point the ushers had to come in. That guy was unbelievable.

  • I was in Section 8 and saw some arguing going on. On the way back to the car had 3 assholes walking in back of us talking shit like everyone above said, "Little brother put back in his place again", "Leveon Bell for Heisman....", "130 seasons of football and 900 wins", "UM is back in their rightful place". This yapping went. on for the whole walk thru the golf course. Mind you that I took my 74 year old dad to the game. I finally blew. Stopped in my tracks and had a few words. That slightly shut them up.

The traffic is a fucking nightmare. Never going back to that town again unless I am dragged there on a stretcher.

One last thing that I am sure that nobody saw on TV. At the end of the game they had a video que'd up. You can't get out of the stadium cause of all the people so I had to endure this. The video was triumphing their 900th win. It reeked of fucking arrogance to an extreme. It is not surprising they all act like they do. I swear to god most of them had boners and were touching themselves.

Like little brother will not show a similar video in about 50 years when you break 900. Like all of you MSU bro's were not arrogant the past four seasons.

Nice job showing class to those fans behind you. I bet your father was real proud. You are a visitor. When you visit someone's else's house, you don't talk shit about how crappy their house. Thus, you need to put up and shut up.

With that said. From my seats in section 40 around row 20, there were two great MSU fans behind me. I had some great conversations with them. If you two post here, I want to apologize for the two moronic old Michigan fans next to you, that gave you two shit at the end of the game. I sit next to those two idiots the entire season. I don't know if they are alums are not. Well if they are I want to apologize on behalf of the alumni base for them.

Let's kid ourselves, Michigan fans get worst at Spartan Stadium, Munn, and the Breslin Center. Last time I was at Munn for Michigan/MSU hockey, I had one of your "classy" fans get in my wife's face as we were walking out.

Yes, the traffic and parking in Ann Arbor sucks.

  • Idk, I'm sure people roll their eyes and think this thread is purely fueled by hatred. Here's mine:
Getting in the stadium is an absolute nightmare.
I like how their concourse is wide open.
Had (believe it or not) the nicest people ever by us.
113,000 people surprisingly do not make that much noise.
Student section looked like ours as in it was not super full near the top, not NEARLY as loud as we would have been for a UM game in EL.
I solemnly go greened my fellow Spartans on the walk home, got out of the stadium fine, but after that kick off return got the hell out of dodge. The go whites I got back made me feel better.
Had a couple little brothers yelled at us, laughed, didn't work out for them last time.
For beating a "little brother" they hold to such low regard, they sure were excited to beat us and rush the field.
I know you get trashed for not liking Ann Arbor around here, but that city really sucks. Downtown area is nice, go anywhere else and its kind of run down and old.
When it was all said and done I am thankful I go to MSU. I love Michigan State and truly think I wouldn't be happy at UM.

2/10 wouldn't go again, even for a win, though I'd be much happier. We have a much better looking fan base, its not even close.

So what your saying is both fanbases can be douchey.

  • Parking was a nightmare, though we got to town an hour before kickoff.
No fat people in our row, so seats were cramped but manageable.
Zero disrespect from the UM fans around me. Being able to joke a bit about MSU's flaws ("You can't break a huddle with 12 guys!" "No, but we can try!") probably helped a bit.

Likely won't go again unless the five-year streak is possible, though - too much money to justify.

  • Didn't go to the game but tailgated on the golf course. Tailgate was about 40 people, half were pro MSU. Half were also 50+ years young. We had to leave after the 3rd fight, this one was during half time. Had to pack all our shit up and drive home, caught the second half on the Dvr. I will add that none of the fights were started by people at our tailgate but all 3 were definitely finished.
