  • The show seems a little cheesy -- especially since each character is modelesque despite not having electricity/combustible engines for 15 years. The producers could learn a little something from Game of Thrones. Commonality lends itself to credibility.

  • it at least it looks interesting lots of uninteresting pilots this year, It is the one I am most looking forward to, could be really good or really cheesy you never can tell. Another JJ Abrams project, I for one am hoping it is more like Fringe than Undercovers.

JJ Abrams and Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, I've watched the first few. I don't think any motors of any kind work. It's not just electricity that's out. Gas powered engines aren't working either.

It's an interesting concept, but I often quickly grow tired of shows like this where every answer just leads to more questions. I don't mind shows with ongoing story lines, but there need to be some answers and solutions along the way or I lose interest.

So far the only character that is interesting is Giancarlo Esposito's.

Exactly. It's a great premise, the world they've created is interesting, and they're obviously trying for a Lost-like what the heck is really going on vibe. But so far it's really hard to find any of these characters relate-able. The acting may be a bit cheesy or heavy-handed, but there really isn't much depth to these characters outside of some really well-worn conventions. I want to like the show, but I just find myself not caring about the characters. Esposito's portrayal of Neville has some depth, but my guess is that's not coming from what's on paper......

  • My fear is that the show is going to get caught up in this moral question of killing. I'm enjoying the show but starting to notice this theme and not liking it. Also I'm glad the sword fighting is toned down from the first episode.

So in a post apocalyptic world, where did all the civil war era style clothing come from?

Is it that no motors work, or that there just isn't any gasoline to run them? It's supposedly what - 15 years after the power went out globally? So no refining of any kind. Probably all of the existing supplies have been siphoned and used. I

    Agree.

That main character, Charlie, is awful. Her whining and on again/off again tough girl act is already old and we're not past episode five of the first season.

I like the show premise, but the characters are not doing it for me. There is no one in this show I care about or have interest in.

I missed this. Agree...trying too hard to be Lost, but the characters are terrible. Not only is the acting average, the actual characters are not interesting.

Yep. You'd think after living in a civil war era for 15 years one wouldn't act like killing is so unusual. It seems like it would be a necessity just to survive.

While watching this show, all I kept thinking: "what the rest of America considers an apocalypse, the Amish consider another day on the farm. Why haven't the Amish just taken control of the world?"

Location. In a real life situation like this, if left alone, the Amish would thrive. However, most of the Amish live in the Eastern half of the US., close to several major population centers. As the masses would spill out of the cities and suburbs as resources and food were used up, they would pass right through the land of the Amish. The Amish would be hard pressed to hold off the hordes of hungry, desperate people who would come after what they had.

I'm actually pretty disappointed with the show. It has a great premise, but I don't like the acting, I don't like the writing, and quite frankly, I just don't care enough about the main characters enough to worry about if they reunite with the captured brother.

Personally, I think this was inspired by the Emberverse Series by S.M. Stirling. He created a much more interesting world although he also wove in a bit more of a fantasy aspect to it than just post-apocalyptic sci-fi.
