Prostitutes in Cartagena

  • Who says the Secret Service doesn't know how to get down?
    ______________________________________________

US secret service agents accompanying Barack Obama to a summit in Colombia have been relieved of their duties and sent home after allegations of personal misconduct.

A secret service spokesman would neither confirm nor deny an anonymous claim to the Associated Press that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, the site of the Summit of the Americas meeting.

A US official said 12 agents had been relieved of duty.

right Yeah, as long as you're on vacation. These guys? Not so much:

"Three small explosions were reported in Colombia before the summit – two on an empty area of land near Cartagena's bus station and one near the US embassy in the capital, Bogota. Officials said there were no injuries or damage."

I'm going with this theory. I could see 1 or 2 Secret Service agents possibly doing something this stupid. No way in hell 12 agents do it, especially in a notoriously dangerous country.

  • Now this is a job everyone guy wants lol

A hotel employee, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of losing his job, said the agents arrived at the beachfront hotel about a week ago. The employee described the agents as drinking heavily during their stay.

For who? Other members of the advance team? These guys were an advance detail, not part of the President's Detail - they were likely already stationed abroad or in the Southern US. The White House Admin Detail coordinates field agents to handle advance - the agents you see (and don't see) with the President are with him all the time and don't do advance work. Not that any of this is directly related to the thread but headline reading would give the impression these were guys around the White House all the time.

That's just like your opinion man

  • This is a huge deal, the Secret Service is the best of the best and something like this is inacceptable. Some house cleaning needs to happen, this is almost unthinkable.

  • These guys were idiots. They not only found some hookers, they refused to pay at least one and the independent businesswoman went to the police.

"A source in the Secret Service tells CBS News that one or more of the officers were involved with prostitutes and that there was a dispute over payment. One prostitute went to the police, who notified the State Department. The agents stayed at Hotel Caribe, where the international press is staying."

A senior Secret Service agent who was being investigated by the government for failing to disclose a long-standing relationship with a foreign citizen killed himself last week in Washington, people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Rafael Prieto, a married father assigned to the security detail for President Barack Obama, had acknowledged to U.S. investigators that he had been having an affair for years with a woman from Mexico....

Secret Service rules require that employees with a security clearance notify the agency about any relationship with a foreign citizen to ensure that the person is not a risk to national security. There is no evidence that Prieto's relationship posed any security threat. Failing to disclose such a relationship would be a violation of the agency's administrative rules, not a crime.
