Pure Michigan: Ann Arbor (Zingerman's Deli)

  • Taylor's Gourmet is way better than Zingerman's. So is A. Litteri.

  • This is the dumbest fucking thread I've ever read on this board. I've been going to Zingerman's since I was a little kid and I still love it. Yeah the sandwiches are a little pricier, but the quality is definitely there. People on this board will hate anything that even remotely reminds them of UofM get over the fucking obsession and enjoy a good sandwich. You'll survive.

A lot of NYC Deli's prepare their own corned beef. Does Zingerman's? Or do they just buy it from somebody else?

No. They buy it from the same place as many other deli's

They get Sy Ginsberg pickled brisket, then prepare it in house. They are definitely doing the final work in house.

Work? Boiling a brisket 2-3 hours and putting it on a meat slicer?

Front Page Deli has locations in Oak Park & Warren. Check out #21 & 22 on their menu below (btw...you can get them on grilled rye for no extra charge). That is what a $15 sandwich should look like...a full pound of Sy Ginsberg pastrami or corned beef.

There's no way the $15 reuben at Zingerman's has even 1/2 pound. It's pretty funny they charge $15/pound for corned beef to take home. The place has good stuff but it's a massive rip-off

    The "final work" being what?

Cooking it in water, and slicing with a knife?

That's just sad. I'd love to see a show on how they make a reuben that starts with them taking corned beef out of a plastic wrapper and putting it in some water.

Maybe they should have put that in the Pure Michigan ad.

  • Not too long ago, Zingerman's was named the "coolest small company in America". That's just part of the reason they're featured in a Pure Michigan ad.

Awesome. They should have put that in the ad campaign.
