Quality Goalie Masks?

  • Any icers out there that recommend a really good brand? Bauer? New Era? What should one expect to pay?

My buddy has one from this local company in Port Huron (Warwick I believe) and it was almost a grand?? fingergun

  • Bauer or Reebok.

Cheapest mask you'll find for a senior that won't kill you of you get hit will be around 320$

  • If you're willing to buy online (as opposed to going to a shop and actually trying things on), goaliemonkey.com usually has great deals available on all goalie equipment, including masks.

Helmets are the one thing you really want to try on and make sure it fits well. Bring your chest protector with you too. You want to be sure you have a range of motion you are used to in all directions.

You can size and all that in a store and then order online.

  • Go to donsimmons.com and check out either Hackva or Fusion. Great (pro quality) masks for a great price. You can't go wrong with either. I have a Fusion and have taken slappers by OHLers and CCHAers and felt absolutely nothing. Do your research and get a quality mask. That's the one thing I would absolutely not skimp on. If you want pics of have questions, PM me.

I feel that if you're going into a store to try on/test out an item, you should buy it from that store. Sure it probably costs more, but you're paying for the service as well as the product.

    I hate Illinois Nazis.

  • In my experience, this single greatest forum for equipment is www.modsquadhockey.com

    Goalie Specific: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/forum/6-goalie-equipment/
    Reviews: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/forum/55-goal-equipment/

Obviously, you should try searching before posting because the odds are that there are several topics already.

for goalie specific, I'd definitely check out the goalie store bulletin board:

    http://www.goaliestore.com/board/equipment-forum/

Tons of mask reviews/wars on there. Agis, take every review/war with a grain of salt and make sure you draw your own conclusions.
