I want to try them out but they are so expensive. Was at Costco yesterday and even a multipack of floods were 20 times more expensive than incandescents.

Are you buying 40 watt comparables or are they brighter? How well do they dim? Where did you buy? What brand? And if I may, how much?

They definitely don't make sense yet from a pure economics standpoint, but they have other benefits. A primary one being no mercury content.

I sell them. Its almost a try before you buy. Cheaper LED's give off a blue light thats far different than the soft warm glow of GE color corrected incandescents or even the color corrected CFL's.

The people who use them are building owners with things like landscape lighting that needs a forklift to change so the price of the long life LED is less than the cost of the labor. Some use them in chandeliers.

If you want to drop major money to be the first kid on the block go ahead. This year GE, Sylvania, Toshiba are all rolling out a lot of LED for residential use.

I'm just waiting for the price drop, then will make the change as needed.

They are the future, to be sure, but that future is 5-10 years away (probably closer to 5). Right now, the cheap ones still cost five time too much, are very dim, and have a blue tint. The good ones cost even more. They won't be economical until you can replace every bulb in your house for around $100. They are definitely "lightbulb 2.0" unlike CFLs, which just had too many inherent problems to be a real lighting solution.

The value is there if you want it to be there. You could skip that one expensive dinner for the month and eat at McD's instead and buy an LED. Your stomach is full in both situations and you come out on top with a nice new LED light.

I bought an LED TV. Does that count?

Yup, worth it for sure.
