Recommend an electric shaver

  • Bumping this thread.

What I'm looking at is the differences between the Braun Series stuff. I've never had an electric shaver before and I'm not sure if it's worth the money to get the 7 series.

Is there anyone with experience with the different series? Will I be disappointed with an electric shaver after using a gillette razors?

I lost the cord to my old electric razor, and it was a POS anyway.

Anyone got any good recommendations? I have a heavy beard and am too lazy to shave with a razor/shaving cream every day.

    Buy a Braun. Period.

  • I'm pretty partial to Wahl products. Not real stylish, but I've been very pleased with their products.

    Foil in my opinion.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread even though Im asking for something a little different but what do you guys recommend for beard trimmers? Price really isn't an issue. I just want something that works well trimming more of a stubble than anything else. TIA

Best beard and hair trimmers. The blades are made to last.

  • I have never found an electric that shaves as close as a blade. And for the money, you can't beat dollar shave club. Google it.

I have a Braun Series 7 790cc. Best electric shaver I've had, by far. It came with an automated cleaner as well.

    Don't get a Norelco. They're garbage.

I've had a Norelco for four years and it still works like a charm. OP, I highly recommend buying this (see: attached pic) with the razor and your face will be as smooth as a porn star's vagina.

PS: Wahl is good for razor work, like shaping sideburns, mustaches and goatees. I've had my Wahl set since freshman year of college!

What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...

  • I have a Norelco rotary and I cringe when I think of using it. IF I shave daily, which I usually do not, it leaves my face spotty and ragged looking. It misses random hairs and entire areas of hair so I have to use a razor afterwards lest I look horrible aand awkward. If I wait more than a day, it tugs and tears at my face causing me pain and leaving me red. I just cannot win with it. I hate it and end up using a manual every two or three days.

I would LOVE to find an electric that works.

  • I was also under the impression that Electrics are to be used alone.. am I allowed to use any product (like lectric shave) before using them?

Because of the above experiences I have always clung to manuals. Maybe I have been missing out on something important.

My face always got red after shaving, so I discovered Lectric Shave and it has been a god send. It was made to be used with electric shavers (hence the name). My goatee has never looked better, and my face doesn't itch like hell anymore. I've had the same bottle for 2-3 months now.

Also, I recommend Aqua Velva (cool blue) for post-shave. So, the sequence:

Wash face with water, dry gently with towel ---> Lectric Shave ---> Shave your face ---> Shower ---> Aqua Velva ---> Get poontang

  • I've got a iBraun 4D X5000! Its a wet/dry rotary foil and has a lazer level for my side burns cool

But really, I've been using a double edge razor for the past year and its the closest/easiest shave of my life every time... and other than the initial investment I only have to pay a few dollars for 100 blades which lasts forever. Whereas with an electric razor you're supposed to replace the head every year for what 30+ dollars? no thanks

I recently bought the Philips - Norelco Senso Touch 3D Electric Razor. Best razor I've ever used. I highly recommend this razor.

I ended up getting this one recently, and it kicks ass. Best shaver I've ever had, I always thought those "it shaves as close as a blade" electric razor commercials were horse shit until I got this.

Perfect. Someone FINALLY just laid it out for me in an easy to follow guide. Thank you and +1 sir.

  • Braun Pulsonic....easily the best on the market. It is expensive though. Costs about $225-250.

But don't go with a Remington or a Norelco. I have had both their cheap and expensive electrics and there really is no difference: they all stink.

The Pulsonic (I believe it is now called the Series 7) is just the best...seriously.
