Recommendations for a All-inclusive Mexican resort

We are going in Jan/Feb and have never been. Looking for the best (all things considered) area in Mexico for a sweet all-inclusive resort....Puerto Vallarta? I know we'll probably get kidnapped by drug gangs, raped and decapitated, but we'll already be down in Phoenix so thought it would be most efficient. TIA.

Dreams resorts are top notch and well priced. Secrets is the same as dreams but more expensive. Check orbitz for whole package deals with flights. We typically have good luck with orbitz and dreams. The dreams in Nuevo Vallarta was a favorite of ours.

Honeymooned at the St. Regis in Punta Mita, was awesome. Not All Inclusive, but I'd recommend that area.

Went to an Ibertostar in Playa del Carmen last December, it was great. There were a ton of resorts right in the area as well and all seemed to be of high quality. Anyplace down in the Yucatan area is generally safe. Also have heard great things about Cabo but I've never been.

Seriously though - we stayed at the Moon Palace in the Riveira a back in 2008 and it was solid.

I went to the same. Loved it. Also went to Puerto Vallerta and it wasn't nearly as nice. The town is a hell hole and people aren't nearly as friendly. Do Riviera Maya.

Yeah, the moon palace is nice if you like roaches and power outages, followed by being mugged and raped.

I'd recommend that you don't go to Mexico at all. Seems like there are much nicer places you could go for the same money and about the same travel time.

Cabo and Riviera Maya are relatively safe places to visit. Cabo is a short flight from Phoenix too.

I would recommend a bullet proof vest.

Stay away from Cabo in the winter if you enjoy being in the water. It's friggin COLD.
Expect water temps in the high 60's to maybe low 70's.
If you want a beach vacation go to Turks and Caicos, unbeatable. Little more partying, still acceptable beaches Riviera Maya isn't hatefull.
Stay away from Pacific beaches, they are ugly and as I said, in Cabo cold water.

Two co-workers just got back from Playa Mujeres (not on the same trip). Both loved it and said it was their favorite resort in Mexico so far.

This is where we go- love this place. Service is pretty good and the accommodations are nice to very nice (depending on how much you want to splurge)
Actually liked it better before it became all inclusive. Drinks were much tastier when you paid for them directly.

We stayed all inclusive at the Royal at playa del carmen in 2007. It was nice/clean/ seemed safe. Definitely adults-only though (lots of drinking going on, and some nudity on the beaches, and did not see anyone under 18 there). They had I think about 5 restaurants on the property to choose from as well as a room service menu and a 24 hour game room/ snack buffet/self serve open bar. There was also a sweet indoor/outdoor bar right in the middle of the hotel that opened out onto the pool/ocean side. I believe there was also a swim-up bar in the pool. As with most resorts down there they also had staff right at the hotel that could get you registered for different tours and things and you would be be guided directly from the hotel out to whatever you wanted to do (note that tour prices are not included in the all-inclusive). Also, bring some cash for tipping because it goes a long way down there and lots of times they will flat out ask for it - not so much right at the hotel but anything outside it.
We saw some other Spartans on our Tulum tour! That was cool.

Dominican was great, honeymooned there last year. Less expensive than Mexico.

Bump. Anyone been recently to an All-inclusive and want to share?! We are getting ready to book for Jan/Feb....thinking Playa Del Carmen or Riv Maya...thoughts?? What am I looking at for a 4-5 day stay at these places? What are flights like if bought in advance? We'll be flying from Phoenix.

A couple we are friends with are " beachies" like us and like a nice beach and good swimming.

The best reviewed one I've found is the Beloved Resort (I believe it's in Cancun). Truely looks to be ultra-all inclusive via reviews on TA.. Photos too. Place looks unbeatable.
