  • Not to pick on Lamar Robbins, but he does understand that a team needs the run to set up a good play action game right?

In fairness to Robbins, Southridge ran a wing T offense last season so I think he's just itching for more opportunities to contribute on offense. Switching to a pro style this fall so he'll have a chance to better show what he can do there. And he said that a pro style offense is what he's looking for in college, just not a three yards and a cloud of dust system.

Since MSU is listed along with West Virginia as Favorites who runs a spread do you think this would give us the advantage knowing he wants to play in a vertical O?

Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

  • It has been a while since I've read one of these RCRs (or What I'm Hearing) and came away excited about the prospects of MSU landing a targeted recruit.

Having said that, I love these features...Dan and Bill do a terrific job. Hard hitting information. To the point. Effective. Love it.

It's a slow period for recruiting right now. Things will pick up in the summer when recruits actually make visits and in the fall for official visits.

  • Is Seth Mitchell in Kevin Robbins’s ear? I hope so.

I think WV and MSU are pretty close at this point but would give the Spartans a slight edge right now based on the pro style and Robbins' early impressions of the program. Still a long ways to go here, though, as I he will likely continue to add offers throughout the summer with strong 7 on 7 showings.

  • IIRC...Didn't James Connor just win an MVP award recently at a camp??

  • Nice update guys. Is the staff focused on Robbins as a DE or are they open to him at TE? I always thought he had impressive film as a TE. If we were to miss on other TE's and are able to bring in some other DE talent it might make sense for him to play offense.

We already have Sims, Drone, Jones, and Price at TE

DE could be the bigger need depending on when Big Will leaves

My take is that Sims is gone after this seasons. Drone is having trouble learning the playbook and I see Jones getting switched to the defensive side of the ball and being redshirted. I see Price sticking at tight end but also being redshirted as well.

I firmly think Too-Tall Gholston is gone after this season.

Just curious what makes you think Sims is gone after this year?

  • Sims is an NFL talent. Really big target, runs a lot better than most guys his size. Big hands (when not in a cast) and he should be able to develop his blocking ability as well. This year, with our young WR corps and new QB, Sims will be Maxwell's safety valve for a lot of plays. If he produces well, he could be a top pick in the draft next year.

  • Who is the favorite for Warfield? Seems like Penn St is our biggest competition here.

  • Sims has NFL size already and he is going to be poised for a breakout season.

  • Having NFL talent is not the same as playing like you have NFL talent so he's going to have to have a HUGE year because I doubt 1 good year is really going to be enough to make him a high draft pick. He has perfect size/athleticism combination he just has to put it all together.

I just feel Sims puts all of it together and is gone after this season. He's pretty much the only experienced receiving option Maxwell has, and I see Sims being in the right place at the right time with much of the Spartans' offense going through him next season.

Sims is an excellent red zone target, and I'm looking for Sims to be Maxwell's go-to guy next season.

I love it. I hope we throw to him 5 times a game, minimum.

All that matters is having the size/athleticism combo, doing decent in college, and blowing up the combine.

    Recent example: Dontari Poe
