  • Does Vonashek project to right or left tackle?

  • Great stuff guys.

  • "2 Tall" played TE on offense in HS. Maybe he could get a few snaps @ TE. He would be a huge target in the passing game.

Gholston did mention that he would like to take a few snaps at tight end earlier this spring. Not a bad redzone option to keep in the back pocket.

Vonashek has played right OT for his HS team but may move to left OT for his Sr. season.

  • One thing I would like to see this year from time to time is that "bear front" that UM used to good success against us.

Line up Hoover at DE, ARW and Reynolds at DT and Kittredge on the other end. Push forward.

Also, on 3rd and short, maybe try lining up an extra OT at TE and just bulldoze ahead in power I.

He also played C on Southeastern's basketball team. He gave Derrick Nix all he wanted in the post when they played and was one of the few players who wasn't afraid to take on Nix head-to-head.
"2 Tall" would have major hops going up for jump balls in the red zone.

  • Great work!

Promising news on Robbins. At 6'3" that is a big "athlete".

Based on the write up earlier, I am not holding my breath on Vonashek. Sounds like we might have been late to the party...but who knows. I'd love to see him come up to EL for a game.

As to Caesar, the news of him coming on does not surprise me. I rarely get worked up over a recruit's film, but other than Ringer's (whose video was amazing), I've not seen a better film than Caesar. By no means am I an expert, but this guy was a PLAYMAKER in high school. I still can't believe he was a three star. I would not be surprised, considering his size, speed and after seeing his highlights, if he ends up being a major contributor for us. (FWIW - Nick Tompkins film was very impressive).

There is some precedent for having the big guys go both ways; Kellen Davis has a couple of a sacks his SR year lining up at DE.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Ahh yes, who can ever forget KFD running into the punter at Wisconsin....I kid, I kid. Like "Too Tall", he was a tremendous athlete. The difference is our program is much deeper now than it was then. Is it wise to have "Too Tall" out there?

Imagine a 2 TE set with Gholston and Sims. That's some major size and leaping ability between the two of them. And we could still pound it with Bell in that situation too.

Anyone else worried that Gholston is asking / pushing for something that we normally reserve for Seniors WHO ARE PLAYING IN THEIR LAST GAME.

Maybe I'm reading to far into this one - we all know where Gholston is projected in the early mock-ery drafts.

This does not appear good he is asking for this...at the same time its hard to pass up a projected first round pick.

I think Mr. Too Tall will be eating well the rest of his life after he plays himself into the Top 10 picks next season (while leading MSU to the NC).

We haven't seen much of Caesar, so here's his senior highlight reel to refresh our memories. Dude does not go down easy.

  • Why is that MSUManic13? Because I don't post here enough? Sorry brah. I aspire one day to have has many stars as you - call me a star gazer...

Didn't you find it weird that Gholston is pushing for something that we reserve for seniors? Like I said in my OP, maybe I'm reading too far into this...but I found it interesting that he is requesting to play running back a la Joel Foreman.

Maybe if he wanted to play TE, which you could make the argument for with his freakish ability...

Since when is this something we reserve for seniors? The best players are going to play. This isn't Joel Foreman going in at RB... this is a 6'7" former 5 star recruit that has played TE in the past. This isn't a gimmick, it's us putting our best athletes on the field to help us win games. In no way does this limit what we can do. It would be no different than if we lined up Hoover at TE (who was also highly regarded as a TE out of high school).
