Well, our running game has been close to last in the Big Ten, probably a product of crappy o line play and the Bear defense. Need a guy that can out run the linebacker on the edge like baker could to get those 15 to 25 yard bursts. A 4.3 guy.

FWIW, if you take out rushing yards from the QB, I believe MSU was third in rushing in the B1G last season. Also, MSU lost two starters on the OL before the B1G season even started.

BTW, I agree with you on the OL and DL. We need to continue recruiting high caliber players. However, our QB, WR, LB and DB recruiting (under any measure) has been very, very good under Dantonio (you can make the case with DL and RB as well, but that would be based on performance, not stars.

Check out Nick Tompkins tape then.

I do agree with you about the linemen. We've had a rash of shitty luck with injuries with OL (especially OTs) but we were able to run in pretty well in 2010, major regression in 2011. The talent is there, now it's a matter of actually putting it together.

And rather than just grabbing 4-star linemen, i'd prefer linemen with Wisconsin/Iowa offers.

I'd love to see that; only time Baker did that last year was against UM. Tompkins is allegedly that fast, but we'll see how he plays at 205 (was 185 in HS).

I think the linemen are more important than the skill players, though you don't want a 5'10 170 pound 4.7 40 guy as your RB. MSU's rush O definitely needs work though.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
