Report, Tigers among six teams talking trade for Matt Garza

Tigers are batting .274 with no one on base. .284 with men in scoring position. .237 with men in scoring position with two outs .204 with the bases loaded

.........and there it is.........the last two stand out for me: .237 with men ISP and .204 with the bases loaded: it's a miracle they are sniffing a .500 record with those two stats

Anyone know where I can find out where the Tigers stand as far as the % of their hits that come with 2 outs? I swear, it's got to be 70% of the time the first man on base is with 2 already gone.

    The Tigers:
38% of their hits have come with 0 outs.
    34% with 1 out.
    28% with 2 outs.

    The entire AL (for reference):
    36% with 0 outs.
    33% with 1 out.
    31% with 2 outs.

  • The Rangers are actually leading the AL with 536 LOB.

The Tigers are middle of the pack at 495.

That ... and the numbers from the #6 spot in the lineup:

    .203 BA/.288 OBP/.326 SLG

That kinda of lack of production from the #6 hitter has really hurt (#6 has primarily been Avila/Boesch/JP).

For as much as people bang on DY ... look at what is behind him.

Wow... I stand corrected. Where'd you find that?

  • I assume the Cubs will trade him for a bag of balls if the Tigers will pick up that salary. They're freeing up cash to start from scratch.

  • All these clutch/situational/whatever you want to call them statistics are pretty useless in projecting going forward.

The hitters aren't hitting how they should be. In general. No one is hitting better than you could've expected them to going into this season outside of Jackson, Berry and Dirks.

Agree, but one of the problems I saw going into the season was how many Tigers had career seasons last year. To expect Peralta, Avilla and even Cabrera to perofmr at career high levels again this year was unrealistic. The guys you mentioned had room to improve - most of the lineup didn't. Too many Tigers fans saw last year as a baseline.

I don't disagree with any of that. I think some of them are still not meeting expectations even if you discount last year a bit, but I still agree with you.

My point, which I made poorly, is getting into the "they only hit with 2 outs" or "they can't hit in clutch situations" doesn't really tell the story.

Every fanbase of every team feels like their team leaves too many runners on base.

  • I think Carlos Quentin would look great in a Tigers uniform at the No. 5 spot in the lineup.

Thanks for posting the figures on what some of us basically already knew just by watching this team underachieve.

    I highly disagree with this.
