This could actually be good PR for the restaurant. I'd run with it, give a couple quotes to the news paper about having a joke played on you by a good natured spartan fan, you're excited that Msu fans will be in town, but you've already changed the sign because you are obviously rooting for CMU.

A restaurant employee was playing a joke and adjusted the restaurant's marquee earlier this week. Some Central Michigan fans weren't laughing.

Update from last night-spoke to the GM at La's who feels terrible about the sign mishap. He had a long talk with the guy who thought he was just being funny. Lesson learned for all on how quick social media can affect something. Please be kind in your treatment of them. I do believe it was just a bad joke that went really bad. The GM fully understands it is the CMU community who supports and frequents them and he is very sorry for what his employee did.

this is exactly what i was saying in the first page that everybody is downvoting me for. it is extremely hard, especially in the restaurant business, to build up a client base. if some scrub employee of mine has a funny sports rivalry joke idea that causes me to loose a bunch of money and maybe my investment cash that i may have double mortgaged my house for, you can bet your sweet ass he'd be shit canned that minute.
i'm all in on funny and sports are great entertainment. but the joke ends when you are fucking with my money.
