Revsine to u of m: Don't let them (MSU) ruin your season

  • Did anybody catch B1G Live last night and hear Revsine's comment near the end of the show about how MSU has ruined u of m's season the the last three years? He cited u of m's dismal record in games after the MSU loss in 2008-2010.

    2008 games before MSU 2-5
    2008 games after MSU 1-3

    2009 games before MSU 4-0
    2009 games after MSU 1-7

    2010 games before MSU 5-0
    2010 games after MSU 2-6

I don't think that it ever occurred to Revsine that the only reason u of m was having a season to be "ruined" in 2009-2010 was that they were beating up on the likes of WMU, EMU, ND, Indiana, CT, Massachusetts, and Bowling green before facing a quality opponent.

I thought it was an odd comment for Revsine to make, unless I'm missing some hidden nugget of wisdom he was trying to impart.

  • I'm glad the media is going with this mantra as that had been on msu in the past known as the "michigan hangover"when in reality jls beat up on non conference teams and struggled with big ten teams.

  • If you think about it, that's one helluva compliment and one that implants itself in the heads of scUM Nation.

It adds pressure in their remaining games to not pull another 2009 or 2010.

  • Agree the obsession with MSu is hilarious. "They don't mean anything to us, but we are going to install a clock anyway." They don't mean anything to us, but we are going to try to upstage them with our own uniforms. They don't mean anything to us, but we are going to cry to the Big about one of their players to get him suspended so we can attempt to ruin their season.

    Cry babbies, whaaaaaaaaaaa, burrrrrrrrp.

  • I think if Resvine wants to be on TV he would be better suited to reporting the weather in Minot, Dubuque or Terre Haute.

  • I disagree. They should let it ruin their season.

  • I don't get our obsession about their lack of obsession with us. Or our obsession with exposing their obsession with us, which they obsessively conceal through stealth.

I'm perfectly okay with them coming in every year, cool and haughty. We'll take the W, and then go on with our day. I don't need to see them rend their garments and gnash their teeth. I don't need them to bleed for me.

  • Conversely, MD has never lost the game after the UM game.

Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub

I think there's a good chance that they go 1-4 to finish this season.

  • Nothing to see here. MSU used to suffer late season collapses too. But that was because JLS' and Williams' teams weren't very good (just like UofM). They'd feed on cupcakes early and then lose late season games against better competition.

For some reason, commentators like to question a team's "psyche" before considering what the schedule holds.

Totally agree. I don't care if they call us their biggest, second-biggest, or seventh-biggest rival. I don't care if they have a countdown clock for us or not. Keep calling us 'little brother' every year, PLEASE - how's that working out so far? No interest in looking for evidence that they care more about us than they say they do. They can do and say what they want; as a great man and noted American scholar once said, "I find a lot of the things they do amusing."

We'll just keep on winning, thank you very much.
