Rittenberg calls MSU at UM the marquee game in the Legends

When you hand the other team 120 yards in penalties and they still lose by 2 TDs, it's not very close.

We also fumbled the ball at our own 41 and 32 yard line.

When the other team hands you the ball twice in their own territory, they get 124 yards in penalties, they run the clock out with 3 minutes left 30 yards from another score, and you still lose by 14, you got your shit pushed in.

  • We won..and it was fantastic. Lewis ran the INT right at my corner of the endzone...but let's not pretend that the game was not close..it was. (unlike ND game which was NOT but we are super confident about this year.)

The confidence in regards to the ND game stems from 1) The game is in East Lansing, and 2) Night games in Spartan Stadium have featured some insane endings over the last few years

It's different because it's two of the scummiest fanbases In America who constantly feel the need to tell everyone else just how important and significant their rivalry is. Army and navy is different. It's two honored and cherished institutions who sacrifice far more than just 12 Saturdays a year. The UM-OSU game is two pig institutions playing a rivalry game that Witt the exception of a few instances means absolutely nothing nationally. Just a cute little regional rivalry that doesn't have near the intensity or interest as a Bama/LSU, Florida/UGA or Texas/Oklahoma.

    regional rivalvry?????

thats why most polls consider it bigger then yankees/red sox, lakers/celtics, cowboys/49ers, etc...

bama/lsu????? how old are you? thats like only within the last couple yrs...

when has tex/ok been more relevant nationally then osu/um? tex has blown the last few yrs...

look, im not gonna get in the middle of um/msu rivalry but calling 2 of the most storied programs in ncaa history "scummy" or "pig institutions" is childish....

at least get to a bcs game (let alone win one) before you can even begin to talk smack!

Which nationally respected polls are those? Links to AnnArbor.com, Freep.com, or the Columbus Dispatch do not count. Michigan and OSU fans like telling everyone else how great their rivalry is though. It used to mean a lot in the 70s when the rest of the Big Ten was down.

I think MSU is the team Michigan hates to lose to the most without a doubt(Because right or wrong many people still believe that MSU is not on Michigan's level as an overall program), I think people can stomach a loss to OSU(Not that it's ever acceptable, but losing to MSU hurts way more for the reasons I mentioned) ... but OSU will always be the most important game on that schedule regardless of record or ramifications. Unless you grew up a Michigan fan, OSU fan, or were fortunate enough to attend either university then you won't ever understand. It's just different.

    Get over yourself.

you are aware that osu and um have a combined 76 big ten titles (some shared)....70 friggin 6!!!!!!! and that doesnt count the times um or osu spoiled the others chances for another title.

now cmon, that doesnt deserve the moniker of greatest rivalry?

i have posted to you before that im not proud of what went down when msu was trying to join the big ten...i agreed that was b.s...

but none of us were around when that happened and we can only learn from it and make sure it doesnt happen again...

No, and though you probably won't like to hear this, it's going to diminish in relevance over the next decade or so. Since you're in separate divisions, the game just doesn't mean as much as MSU - UM, PSU - Wisconsin, tOSU - PSU or Michigan - Nebraska, etc.

How do you think that rivalry became relevant in the first place? You were playing for the Big 10 title and a shot at the Rose Bowl each year. Now, you'll be playing for a CCG berth for one team, if that. Divisional games just mean so much more now that the UM - tOSU game is just not going to be relevant from a national perspective, unless one of your teams is undefeated.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Thanks ghost, stick to blueberry bowel movements, and other inane tripe that you litter the board with. In particular proclaiming your sorry azz a legend of trcmb. The big boys are trying to have an intelligent discussion about football. (Football is this amazing game involving an oblong shaped ball that 11 of our guys try to get from 11 of their guys.)

We will destroy them, it will be glorious.... like the smell of napalm in the morning.

lol @ the boners... yeah, I don't know anything about MSU football lol dude you're on crack if you think the UM game is going to be a cakewalk. Let's talk again a few weeks before the game, meanwhile, carry on boner

How many of those did both of them share? I know that most of Michigan's are shared titles and they had some before OSU was in the Big Ten. It really speaks to the weakness of the Big Ten more than anything. I'm just saying that most people don't care about the OSU/UofM rivalry unless they are fans of either school. It's much easier to appreciate an Army-Navy rivalry or a Harvard/Yale (The Game).

i can tell you from my standpoint, whisky may be more important to us in terms of divisional race but it will never come close to what we have with um....

when you have over 100 yrs going back and forth and hatred for eachother, we simply cant flip a switch and say whisky or msu means more just because they are division rivals....gonna take a looooong looooong time

Most people seem to have Yankees/Red Sox as the #1 rivalry, but when they talk about Ohio State/Michigan, it's all about Bo versus Woody. So basically games that were played 30 years ago. That they have "history" is really irrelevant. This wasn't a heated rivalry until those two pieces of shit coached each respective school. Now that they are both dead, the current rivalry has the two coaches trying to pretend that they are Bo and Woody again.

lol dude this might be one of the dumbest non-blanche sports related posts in the history of the RCMB. Okay, so you're saying the Army / Navy and Harvard / Yale games are easier appreciated? I ask you - and be honest - how many times have set aside your Saturday to watch the Harvard / Yale game? How many times have you watched it? I'd be willing to bet that without your computer you wouldn't be able to tell me who won last year or the last ten years.

Not to diminish the Army / Navy game, but let's be realistic here - if that game was competing head-to-head with OSU / Michigan I would be willing to wager that more people would watch OSU / MIchigan, just as more people would watch Auburn / Bama and some other more significant modern rivalries.

Well, I've watched many more Army/Navy and Harvard/Yale games than Michigan/OSU. I'd say it's probably about 12-1. Army/Navy is kind of the nation's game. There's a lot of fanfare around it.

You're telling me that you've watched Harvard / Yale more than you've watched OSU / Michigan? huh Is Harvard / Yale even televised? Army / Navy is usually the only college FB game on during that specific time slot so yeah, everyone watches that game, but come on, how can you be a college football fan and not watch OSU / Michigan?

He's trolling. IF you love college football sooo much that the Harvard / Yale game is important to you the you also love the game enough to watch ALL the major rivalries, which includes OSU / Michigan. Look, I don't like either team - I root for OSU - but I watch the game.

No one nationally has cared about that rivalry since Bo and Woody.

Honestly, why would I watch that game. Why would an Oregon fan watch OSU vs Mich. Or and bama fan. Or a USC fan. Or a texas fan. Or a Northwestern fan. Or a Wisconsin fan. Or a Tennessee fan. Or a Boise st. fan. or a Cincy fan or any other fan of any other team? Sure, when Bo and Woody were coaching is was the rivalry to watch but those days are long gone. It has become a regional rivalry and will only diminish because of being separated by divisions. The rivalry was born because it meant something, usually a Big Ten championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. I would watch either Army/Navy or Harvard/Yale over Mich/OSU on any typical saturday. And think of it like this, what reason does an 18 year old OSU or Mich fan have for hating the other besides the older generations saying so? That is only going to last so long
