Roller coaster nuts: What are you favorite / best rides?

Thinking about coasters this morning because I'm headed up to Vegas and I'll probably hit the NYNY coaster twice ladder today. I love the wooden coasters, the one at cedar point is great and knots berry farm. What are your favorites thrill rides?

Most of the steel rides at Cedar Point. Raptor, Maverick, Millennium Force... You don't really appreciate the smoothness of and how well maintained CP's rides are until you visit some other parks. I know they're usually made by the same companies (B&M, Intamin, etc...) but that's why I mentioned maintenance. Some other parks just let their rides go to hell after the first year or two.
NYNY was rough. Rode it the last two times I was in Vegas. Good luck.

My favorite is probably still Millennium Force, with Gemini and Magnum tied for second. I have never been a huge fan of the looping coasters like Raptor. It is a hell of a ride, don't get me wrong, I just feel dizzy afterward. I actually rode the Montu at Busch Gardens three times in quick succession and (predictably) felt like crap afterward.

Front row Millenium Force. We got lucky in 2000 and ended up front row (they didn't let you wait for front row on that ride back then). Other than swallowing a bug (it was near dusk) and being covered in smashed bugs, it was absolutely incredible.

I agree the coaster at NYNY is a little rough but it's actuallly a lot of fun I think I'll hit it twice today barring the predicted thunderstorms

Related note: Does anyone actually like to ride Mantis? I spend most of the ride with terrible leg pain. Maybe I am just too tall (6'5") for the ride, but it is not an enjoyable experience.

Perfect list.
I just rode one down in Busch Gardens that was sweet as hell. It was a 90 degree drop, and it held you there for a second before you go down that hill. It was the SheiKra I think. You can't breathe it's so steep. Plus, you can't see the track because they are straight down. Pretty cool ride.

The Griffon and Apollo's Chariot in Bush Gardens Williamsburg. Those two, Millenium Force, and the Raptor are the best coasters I have been on.

I still love the magnum. Not sure if it's because it was the best ride when I was a kid but it just seems the most fun still to me even more than millenium force etc.

Millenium Force FTW. Apollo's Chariot, as mentioned above, is great. The Rattler at Six Flags San Antonio is a great wood coaster. I enjoy TTD for the speed, but it's not worth more than a half hour wait. Gemini is awesome simply because you can ride it 4 times in a half hour. Every trip to CP must start with the Raptor, simply based on location and what a great ride it is.
My favorite ride of all time was doing front row Millenium Force at night. The lights shine up in your eyes so you can't really see the bottom and you just kind of hover over the top of the hill. It was fantastic.

Other than the point's coasters. A really good one, that is like a smaller millennium, is the newer coaster here at Carowinds called the intimidator. Every since Mr. Point took it over, it has become a nice park. A must ride for coaster enthusiasts.

Apollo's Chariot is a GREAT ride. Really liked that one when I went a few years ago.
I also hate Mantis.

Rock N' Roller Coaster is pretty sweet. Forgot about that one. I've yet to go on the Hulk at Universal, but would love to soon.

Same here. I realized that when I went to Six Flags (Magic Mountain, outside LA) last week.
That said, although the Six Flags doesn't the scale or majesty of CP, they are somewhat inventive. The have one where you're lying on your stomach - basically flying. Another has seats that move independently and flip you over the first hill backward - however, that one was closed...due to wind.

Man, this is making miss Cedar Point.
As a current AZ resident, let me register a vote for California Screamin' at the Disneyland California Adventure Park. Very cool ride, with a 'rocket' start and several loops.
Sad thing is, it's the only one I can think of to vote for out here in the Southwest.

For some reason, it seems that only guys are affected by this. Mantis has knocked me out of commission due to leg pain, but it seems that female riders don't seem to have the same problem.
