Rose

  • ESPN reporting that Derrick Rose is out for 8- 12 months, how much of a set back would this be for him? Good thing he is young to come back from this but could this turn him into just a regular player after he comes back and not a superstar?

  • He has had amazing athleticism, but is also hard working and I think he can change his game and still be a top 20 player in the NBA if he loses a step. I'm also worried that the series of injuries this season point to some underlying issue that may not get addressed.

The Bulls are a disaster. Without Rose this team can't do anything when the games matter. Deng is going to miss substantial time since he is going to play in the Olympics and set back his wrist surgery. If he doesn't get the surgery then he will play at 60-70% with some games worse and some better. They are up against the cap. Boozer is a good regular season player that can't be counted on at all in the playoffs. I think they should amnesty him and tear the team down and try to rebuild around a healthy Rose starting in 2013-14.

I am afraid that the whole world is closer to moral foreclosure.

Could've went in a number of directions with that title:

I thought Jailin Rose was arrested...again...

  • Alright Alright, so ill take the blame for naming the title of the thread just "rose", i'm sorry to disappoint. However I do think Derrick Rose could be the next Brandon Roy, where he retires earlier than he should

Fuck Jalen Rose... he will get a DUI in the next 6 months...

Also, Noah has been battling injuries.
I think the Bulls could've been a championship team with a healthy Deng, Rose and Noah.

Remember, Rose was also on the bench with turf-toe and some mysterious back injury for much of the season as well. He's an awesome player, but had a rough season. Taking 8 months off, then trying to come back on a rebuilt knee is going to be tough on him. I don't know if he'll ever get back to his former potential.

Weak. I had my ACL reconstructed with patellar tendon and I missed a grand total of 4 months after my surgery. He needs a better surgeon.

Either that or he is a major pussy.

I thought it was a Two and A Half Men thread.

Derrick Rose severe injury means my pipedream of Draymond Green getting picked up by the Bulls, an up and coming franchise with a shot at a championship (compared to the grease fire we call the Pistons) is probably gone.

It also seems the Chicago PG position is cursed. Jay Williams was supposed to be their PG for the next decade and he made the poor decision to travel by motorcycle. They finally get to draft homegrown Rose, bring him home and about the time he's becoming what everyone hoped he might he blows out his knee.

  • I'm a Bulls season ticket holder so this news is pretty unsettling. My friend and I started 2 seasons ago when we were 22, so it was most definitely a risky investment. We've had two good seasons, but I have a feeling we will make no money next year.

They need to amnesty Boozer but Mr. Reinsdorf is likely not willing to eat $10+ million. He is too old school and stubborn. The "Bench Mob" plays fantastic against average teams in the regular season, but they all looked god-awful in the postseason each of the past two years.

They are kind of a mess right now. I think they need to make a big trade. Build around a core of Rose/Gibson/Noah. Anyone else, even Deng, I have no problem seeing them dealt.

If they amnesty Boozer they may actually come out ahead because they won't take a hit with the luxury tax, or whatever it's called. I haven't crunched the numbers but the amnestied salary won't count against the luxury tax even though they still need to pay him the money.

  • Boozer has something like $45 million left on his contract. I doubt the Bulls use the amnesty clause. Besides, even if they send Boozer packing, Rose, Noah, and Deng all have big money contracts. The Bulls are in tough spot with money right now.

They could probably trade a bad contract for a bad contract. Like package Deng with somebody to get Amare....I have no idea. But what they have now isn't going to win a title.

I have no problem paying Noah. Centers are not easy to come by and while I think he has reached his potential, I don't think he will get worse in the next 3-5 years. Centers usually improve/maintain as they get to 30.
