Further evidence that the sanctions were not strong enough

After 4+ years of losing seasons a lot of these "fans" will no longer be such strong supporters of the plight of the Paterno Family.

I'm sure these are the same Yahoo's in their fan base who were very vocal about running him out if town in the early 2000's.

  • The comments are...disturbing.

"The paterno family has been thru so much, it is courageous of them to dig deeper and shine a light on the whole picture, and not just what the PSU president wanted exposed I the Freeh report."

"Good for Sue, Jay, and the rest of the Paterno family - the only ones seeking truth from day one. Joe would be proud."

"I sent the BOT an email the day they accepted the sanctions telling them it was the first time in my life that I was ashamed to be a Penn State Alumnus due to their actions/inactions. I wish I had an email address for the Paternos because they are making me proud again--finally someone with the guts to stand up for what it fair and right!"

  • PSU needs to be kicked out of the B1G and receive the death penalty from the NCAA. These idiots- fans and trustees alike- don't give a damn about the victims. All they care about is their team, its legacy and JoePa's legacy. Of course JoePa has proven to be an embarrassment to humanity.

PSU is depraved and embarrassing to the human race. They don't deserve to play football.

For the sake of intelligence. Let's not confuse the university, who accepted all sanctions, and the Paterno family.

The only problem is that the PSU BOT have proven to be complete idiots as well.

I sincerely hope it's only a vocal minority making all of this noise - much like if one were to read a RCMB game thread when either the basketball or football team is struggling and attribute those kooky ass comments to all MSU fans.

I do, as well...I would think that there'd be some sort of protest against the university by its alumni/fans in the community. Shoot, we had an MSU loving alum start a facebook page against our university over the logo issue...i'd imagine our demonstration of outrage would be much more profound had the PSU stuff went down here.

...but nothing on their campus. maybe the psu fans outraged over this are in the minority...the silent minority.

  • I wonder if they waited until late on Friday to file so that the university would be slow in responding.

It will be interesting to see if this blue out back fires and large number of fans wear white to protest the sanctions.

  • Looks like the university was not prepared to response to this. I know; we are shocked. sarcasm.

A Penn State spokesman declined comment Friday on the Paterno family's intent to appeal.

  • Emmert pointed out when revealing the sanctions that this isn't a totally shut case. He made it very clear in so many words that if Penn State tried to fight the charges or not adhere to them over the period of sanctions that the NCAA could step in once again and just take everything. Even though the Paternos are no longer considered football staff, I guarantee within the last fiscal year they have donated large chunks to Penn State and that could still qualify them as having university affiliation. I would be very nervous about this latest action by the Paternos if I was the Penn State BOT or Erickson. The NCAA has already showed that they can step in swiftly and call the shots. People in positions of power at Penn State need to step up and tell the Paternos to go away before their family name does more harm to the school.

Just wait till one of Jerry's victims commits suicide or something, it's amazing that no one in that school can see the forest thru the trees......unreal.

This. The paterno family is really enabling a "victim" atmosphere for psu that could eventually turn very, very dangerous to the actual victims, as it is only a matter of time until these delusional fucks start to blame the victims for coming forward and "ruining psu."

Paterno family pursuit of record goes from insulting to irrational - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

The Paterno family wanted to appeal the Penn State sanctions levied by the NCAA. The NCAA shot it down, but Gregg Doyel says he sees through the smoke: JoePa's family's only interested in the record and that's shameful.

I think a majority will wear blue. There was a lot of blue at the Nebraska game for the same reason (the game after the news broke).

Blue Outs look really stupid imo, but with the ascetic effect not being the goal it doesn't matter.

Have you ever seen the United States? Probably 1/4 of the PA southern border borders West Virgina, and that is entirely on the west side by Pittsburgh. State College is in the middle of the state, closer to New York than West Virgina.

    Good article by Doyel...

"Don't hold back, Mr. President. Hear their appeal. Then drop the gavel."

I'd like to see this. Let them appeal on behalf of PSU, then tell them when they're done the NCAA has reconsidered their punishment and decided to give them the 4 year death penalty they were initially going to get plus the $60M fine and JoePa's all important wins record remains off the books.
