Every MSU fan should know the lay of the college football landscape. For us, it's Rose Bowl or bust. We can't control what UM gets or doesn't get, so if we're going to whine about what bowl game we get, that's just wasted energy. Given the relative choice a bowl will take UM over MSU pretty much any day of the week. It's all about name brand recognition and cash. It's the bowl system, and it sucks. We've kicked their ass four years in a row--that's my happy thought and comeback if any of those losers feels sense of superiority over the matter.

I'm not going to give UW any sort of edge if that is in fact who MSU plays in the BTCG. They still have Bielema as their head coach, and even while UW had the more talented team the first several years Dantonio was able to play them remarkably close. Now that MSU is on par with UW talent wise (my opinion) they have beaten them two years in a row.
If I were Dantonio I would borrow a couple of the speeches Herb Brooks gave to the 1980 Olympic hockey team. During the gold medal game against Finland they were down after two periods 2-1 and Brooks came into the dressing room, looked at the team and said “if you lose this game, you’ll remember it for the rest of your fucking lives..” He then turned and began walking out of the room , stopped, turned around and said ” your fucking lives!”
The other was the speech he gave before the team faced the Russians.

Correction: The rest are not "pretty much pointless." The rest are, in fact, entirely pointless exhibition games. The rest of the games are the equivalent of preseason NFL games. College football has the worst post-season. There is no sport anywhere on the planet that has a worse post-season. Yuck.

Maybe if MSU goes to a craptacular bowl they'll actually get matched up with a team they can compete with for a change?
Also - in the end - who cares? Bowl games are virtually meaningless .. there is 1 that matters and the rest are pretty much pointless.

I get the analysis: MSU beat Wisky on a last second Hail Mary with no time left at home. The game will be at a neutral site, so if MSU won by 6 (barely) with homefield, then the Badgers should be equipped to handle MSU on a neutral site.
Few flaws in that:
1) Wisky was up 14-0 before MSU took it's 2nd offensive snap (not drive, snap) because of Baker's fumble. That helped the Badgers a ton, and allowed them to tie it up late in the 4th.
2) Will Gholston did not play at all in that game due to his suspension. Not a single other Big 10 has approached Wisconsin's 5.4 YPC average against MSU, and I think Gholston's absence was a factor.
3) Nick Toon is hurting a bit, and Peter Konz, their 6'5 318 pound OC is out for 2-4 weeks with an ankle problem. They haven't missed much of a beat with him out . . . but they played Purdue and Minny. Come on. No Konz against Worthy and Co could be a problem.
Of course Wisconsin could come out like gangbusters and beat MSU 38-17 or something too. They're a very good football team.

This.
It's just assumed that on a neutral field Wisc would obviously be better because how close things were in our game but it seems they forget/totally blocked out due to overwhelming bias towards favorites that:
MSU rocked UW's shit for probably what combined to be about a half. Baker fumbled and we had to dig out of a little hole and we still managed to get up pretty big. Gholston will be back We'll be healthier overall I think
Trying to be as objective as possible...for everyone to just assume UW rolls is stupid. I think MSU has a damn good chance in that game. Maybe not favorites but UW winning is not a foregone conclusion.

to me , this is the question. I think our D is pretty banged up right now. And while you hope they get a little rest this week, I doubt we'll get any rest against the purple cats. That offense they run with 3 step drops and quick passes and our bend but don't break defense means we'll be on the field alot and the game will be close.
Just because they don't seem like a physically imposing team, our defense will be on the field alot.
