STOP IT WITH THE MOVIE REBOOTS

  • Superman
    Total Recall
    Spiderman
Batman (okay, that one was actually good)
    Godzilla (evidently)
    Some others I'm probably missing

I understand that Hollywood is full of vapid morons with very little ingenuity these days, but my God, can they not even be bothered to develop original plots now?

  • Is it cause Dakota Fanning can't go back in time to when she was illegal and act in these that you hate them? People age brah, deal with it.

    ColonelAngus

  • Total Recall looks good, you can't really count the superhero ones.

  • They are redoing Robocop, House is going to play the main bad guy.

they also redid Red Dawn which should be interesting.

The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.

  • You heard about the Ghostbusters reboot, right? That oughtta make your head explode.

  • Harder to take chances with the lack of profitability out there, so they are going with what has been proven to work. At the very least they know it shouldn't bomb.

This is what happens when everyone, including myself, steals media. Unfortunately, it also makes it harder to get too annoyed when they put shit out there. We did it to ourselves.

  • You think it's bad now? Wait a couple more years for scary movie 15, Toy Story 10, American pie straight to DVD 22, Titanic 4D. Actually titanic 4d would be pretty cool. Eventually hollywood runs out of ideas.

I'm fairly certain Red Dawn is going to be awful.

It began filming in 2009. The film was scheduled to be released on November 24, 2010 and is now set for a 2012 release. That does not indicate a good film regardless of MGM's financial situation.

  • They make what the public wants. Studios making fewer flicks per year leaves less room for gambling on unknown quantities. If reboots and sequels stop making money they will stop making them.

  • The judge dread movie is already on the way there's a trailer for it out there. It looks... ok i guess.

I'd like a new dare devil as I liked that character but couldn't watch the movie cause Ben Afleck sucks balls and is a terrible actor.

I wouldn't mind a new Crow movie I always liked those.

Highlander they should just let die, they totally ruined that in the last movie and the way they ended the TV show.

    FF reborn wtf.

Is deathnote based off of the anime?

A few of those sound like they'd be ok.

  • Chris Pine has also been cast for a "Jack Ryan" movie - with an original script instead of a tom clancy novel as the basis of the story.

  • Don't forget Stephen King's IT being remade as well (started a thread about it the other day)

Yeah, reboots/remakes annoy me a lot as well but if the director is good then I'm all for it. The Robocop remake is drawing together a really good cast (Gary Oldman is in so thats cool) but for the longest time Darren Aronofsky was attached to it which would of been way more awesome. Now its some no name guy directing it.

Also, David Fincher is planning on remaking 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Come on , you gotta be kinda intrigued by that.

  • Akira? For the love of all things please, NO! And to make it live action? Fail..That will look like shit. No way the $100million budget will make it look good, there is a reason that as an animated feature it was awesome. Live action will just not work. Fuck this shit!

Edit: As of January WB was ditching the Akira remake, yes!
