The kid will make new friends. Maybe even some who are old enough to buy beer!

I assume that he is a Broad student, right? Usually they put all the freshmen in the Broad program in the terrace (read: basement). I had a buddy from high school that was in it. It's super easy to make friends because:

1- Everyone on your floor is a freshman
2- Everyone is a business major
3- You take the same classes as everyone on your floor

Unless MSU housing screws up and puts someone in the Broad Program in North neighborhood and not McDonel

That's great for your kid. It is a great environment. I graduated from Broad, but wasn't in the freshman program. I only had a few friends that were in Broad and only one had the same major. I love my friends and I wouldn't change a thing, but it would of been nice to have more friends in the business college. It just makes studying for exams and going to career fairs easier.

Had a buddy get randomly assigned there freshman year who was an education major, he loved it though, great location for classes. Caf is great, too.

Only problem is the cafe is down for fall semester. But I did hear that all students living in Shaw get a bus pass and double combo exchange which is nice because I never thought that cafe was very good anyways. Other than that I liked Shaw

I lived there my freshman year. Can't beat the location (especially if you're in Broad)...the business library is right across the street too.

I actually preferred the community bathrooms too, since you knew they were generally pretty clean at most times.

Only downside was the fact that my floor had mostly upper classmen, so many neighbors kept to themselves and shut their doors. However, sounds like they're putting more freshmen there, so maybe it's different now.

Man, this thread kinda makes me miss college.

'08 grad here.... I lived in Wonders and was an RA there, but I always ate at lunch in Shaw because of classes. It was always a busy spot. It was pretty good from what I remember. I always hit up their Totally Takeout to get Gatorades and that Sobe vitamin water they used to have, as well as Uncrustables. I think they did away with that whole system, but I made sure to exploit it while I was there.
