So, Hoke won his first 3/4 of a game...

  • congrats to him. Next week, ND is going to beat Scum, as they are desperate to win now that they lost to USF.

If only desperation would actually help win games. It's pretty clear that Notre Dame is as overrated as we all knew. That game will have scores in the 40s with Michigan scoring late to win.

Not so fast. Maybe South Florida is a decent team. Time will certainly tell.

  • South Florida is a decent team but not many teams can overcome the 5 turnovers nd had! I agree that there will be no D in the big hole next week. (I do think nd has a better D and might be able to stop um occasionally--um,,,not so much) gogreen!!!

  • I though scUM looked alright actually. They had good tackling, the d line forced some turn overs and I thought the short passing game suited DR style.

WMU O-line blows and made UM's D line/blitz packages look impressive.

  • My prediction is that UM beats the piss out of ND, UM gets its penis sucked on until they are exposed again in B10 play by MSU. Then only Denard gets his penis sucked all year.

Oh, also, State will beat ND but it will be really close and the Blue wall will make wild predictions about UM beating MSU after that.

True, they were nothing to write home about...I just thought scUM looked like they had improved on some of the fundamentals. There was good open field tackling and their D won the game imo. They clamped down in the red zone and put a lot of pressure on the QB. I won't get a good measure on how good/bad they are though until next week.

the game shouldn't count in the record books. They didn't even play 45 minutes.

Yes, and you shouldn't have to blitz like that to beat western.

UMAA looked exactly the same as last year and the year before. Dickrod was dialing up these blitz packages as well.

Dickrod 2 is coaching that team.

  • After the USF loss I am looking forward to that game now more than ever. Might be as entertaining as last years game.

That's what I was thinking. It was as if we were in a time warp. The only difference was that the offense wasn't quite as explosive. I expect that the hype will continue until Robison gets banged up again in B1G play.

  • Next weeks ND-UM game is going to be very entertaining.

No matter what the outcome I will be happy although now that ND has lost I suppose I should be rooting for equal misery.

Although if ND plays MSU with and 0-2 record they will probably have some confidence issues.

Like I said either way one of the more entertaining games of the year. I will try to at least catch some of it.

Actually this years UM team plays much more ball control offense.

They can get a tough yard when they need to (at least they did against WMU) unlike the Rich Rod era.

On the other hand Shoelaces still can't throw the ball very well so if teams can get UM in a third and long I think they are in trouble.

Also UMs defense made two really big plays in the game. You have to give them credit....

I will be suprised if the defense can score 14 points the whole rest of the year let alone in one game.

WMU was moving the ball pretty well but they missed a field goal on one posession and on the other threw a pick 6 when they were on the goal line. Also they didn't have to play the 4th quarter so I wonder how many points WMU could have still put up.

  • 97.1 just now. Michigan looked awesome, WMU was scared so they left. MSU was bad on friday nightfacepalm_msu

  • I watched some of both games and right now I'd probably pick UofM over ND in a close high scoring game. However, I would not at all be surprised if ND wins considering despite their turnover woes they did rack up 500 yards of offense against South Florida. ND will spread the field and move the ball. Plus, much of UofM's success against Western came from blitzing, blitzing and more blitzing. You can not always be blitzing or teams will pick up on that and exploit it, especially teams with more weapons and better offensive lines.

    kubrickfan

  • ND had 500+ yards of offense and um had the same as wmu.

um benefited from TOs and ND lost because of TOs. ND by 7 next week.

The thing is turnovers are always more likely in a pass spread offense.

UM is not throwing the ball all over the field like ND is.

Even when UM has been horrible the past couple of years they have still managed to beat ND.

UM is playing at home in thei first night game.

With all of that being said I think it is a pickem game.

P.S. how is UMs corner doing that got hurt? He got carted off of the field.
