They did have a member die in 2008. Also, they had an album out in 2009 which was up for a grammy. They toured after that album until 2011, when they too the year off.
They are in studio doing another album now. Allegedly, going back to the sounds of the first 2 albums.

Grammy's don't mean much really. It's almost a sign that you ARE a has been.
Every single solo album by the Allman Brothers players was nominated for a grammy last year too. And only 1 of them was really any good.
