Dude grew up in Michigan too.... Really horrible. Sounds like it was non-combat related, but still.

The part about hoping for a rescue made me think he was alone, stroke, heart attack. Aneurism, bad allergic reaction or something, no one nearby. But the investigation comment almost seems like friendly fire or outright homicide from another soldier. Who knows. Either way, a nightmare for the wife I'm sure.

what i thought was some sort of mortar attack or explosive in the hospital/tent he was in.
i dont think friendly fire or homicide at all...the military "investigates" all deaths...
