Douchbags can be victims too. It doesn't degrade the incident if the kid is self absorbed, it just means the kid sucks. If a guy raped Kim Kardashian, the guy still deserves to experience the full extent of the law. Hopefully the perpetrators get locked up for such shameful behavior.

Yep.. This happens often. A kid gets beat up and wants to twist what happened because they're just really embarrassed they got beat up. Those guilty should still be punished obviously and I think the family could probably go after those who hosted the party, but this kid likely got his ass beat for whatever reason and used his religion as an opportunity to rally people to his side, feel sorry for him, get attention, etc.

What if the kid picked the fight, got his ass kicked, felt stupid, and made up the hate crime angle? To use your analogy, if Kim Kardashian got drunk, slept with some d-lister, and then accused him of rape should he "experience the full extent of the law"?

My only point was that I'm sure most people traumatized by a hate crime wouldn't take to twitter to ask celebrities to retweet them within hours of the story breaking.

And what people do not understand is that the leader of the Romans in Israel at the time was Pontius Pilate, who ordered Jesus' death, who later was executed by the Romans for killing too many Jews and being too iron-fisted.
