The controversy is whether or not he should accept the scholarship or pay himself because pops is a billionaire. I say fuck it, take it of offered but douche move by puffy just pay the tuition yourself or donate a mill to the university

funny how no one said a word when Michael Jordan's kids accept basketball scholarships to schools. or any other major league sports star sons goes to school. If you are good enough to get a scholarship to play on that level go to it. Now if you extend an offer to someone, oh say Master P's son Romeo, that has no business playing but his father is famous and has external motives, then you are onto something

You make a good point. But wouldn't your suggestion make it appear as if Diddy purchased a roster spot for his kid? WIth the scholarship, the kid has earned his way on and he has to continue to earn his spot.

Now how does this work, If Puffy wants to take his kid and a few of his team mates out for dinner is it an NCAA Violation? I have been friends with Scholarship athletes and gone to dinner with their family and team mates and the family picks up the tab, since we were college kids and well that is what parents usually do. But their parents weren't Billionaires or famous.
I know if they are recruits they can't do it. but I am not sure about guys already on the team. And if Puffy does donate, that makes him a booster so anything he gives to a team mate, like dinner would be a violation, correct?

Article I read had Illinois and a few other "big" schools mentioned. Kid is 5'9" and apparently a 3 star corner. Not sure how much playing time he'll get

I don't care if Bill Gates' kid got an athletic scholarship. If the kid of affluent parents earned it, then so be it.
Anyone who calls for P Diddy to pay the bill and in essence negate the scholarship can bite it. Jealous haters. Class warfare protagonists.

This is ridiculous. If the kid is worthy of a scholarship, he gets it, end of story. He owes nothing, and neither does his family, no matter how much money they may have.
If he's not worthy, the UCLA coach just cut his own throat, so it will all work out in the end, scholarships are priceless.
Piddy doesn't owe the school anything his son is TRADING his talents for the scholarship.
When was the last time any of you D&D dorks asked how much money a white scholarhips athletes parent had?

In the article in mentioned USCs BBall coach Floyd, that admitted that Master P sons fame was part of the reason he recruited lil romeo.
