  • You might want to check out the Final Forum. Check out the threads titled "Green as a leader next year?" and "Honest question: Is it time to shake up the staff a bit?".

Pay attention to poster mbabers (Draymonds mom). She's in mother bear mode, and she ain't taking any shit. The Dancing Bear's momma has some claws.

  • Not gonna subscribe for that alone, but I bet it's pretty entertaining.

Thanks for pointing that out, it was a good read. I don't post over there, but I do read the boards. I saw the title and the number of posts and decided to skip it because I figured it was just a bunch of bitching back and forth, so I'm glad that you pointed it out.

  • Saw that. It is interesting to hear her perspective, but she can't even put a coherent sentence together so I'm really not putting a lot of stock into it.

Yeah, she's posting with a lot of emotion. Players and parents should never read message boards, nothing good can come of it.

In one thread she says that the players would have gone to the Final Four no matter who was coaching them...in another, she says all the problems would go away if Izzo would "recruit some F'ing talent!". Can't have it both ways lady.

This will get some ink in the Detroit rags.

    Absolutely, 100%.

  • Has it been proven it is Green's mom?

    Io Triumphe

  • She says Green is her son in one of the posts...but who knows.

  • Message boards can be really f'ing stupid sometimes. People need to relax. We just went to two final fours. Come on now.

  • I've said it before, but one of Izzo's biggest mistakes was endorsing Green as the leader of the team, rather than telling him to sit down and shut up until he earned some respect. By endorsing Green, Tom alienated those who just thought Draymond was a loud mouth. Worse yet, making Green the leader meant that other forms of leadership that could have been offered by guys like Lucas were not allowed to evolve. Green took all the oxygen out of the room, so to speak.

A leader does not alienate teammates, he is supposed to bring the team together. From the very beginning, Green rubbed a lot of his teammates the wrong way. When you alienate two of the best players on the team, you are not a leader.

Green always struck me as someone who has the apearance of a leader - in other words - he talks a lot and is emotional, but he does not have that indefinable characteristic that inspires others. He is not a Cleaves; he is not a Skiles - what he is, is someone who tries to act like them.

I hope people remember this the next time someone screams at a teammate and it's cited as "leadership". Yelling and making faces do not equal leadership. MSU fans are known to say "We need somebody to get in people's face like Mateen". Not really. We need guys who play like him. The yelling and screaming is mostly bullshit that looks good on TV.

Agreed. Some parents can't help themselves though. Happened recently with a high profile but occasionally criticized MSU player. Parent couldn't keep themselves from reading the boards even though they knew that they shouldn't read them.

What is momma green's handle over here?

hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.

  • I can tell most of you since I did attend a fair amount of saginaw high practices when he was there that Draymond is emotional to a point but he is also the first person to put blame on someone else when something goes wrong in a game.

The stuff coming out about his yelling and alienating his teammates is most likely true. I'll say again there was a reason that at first Izzo/Beilien both kinda took a pass on him before tubby got fired from Kentucky.

He's not a bad kid by any means but on the court his antics do get on the nerves of a lot of his teammates.

  • Looking at some of "her" older posts... Not sure if I believe its her

"All of problems would be alleviated if we recruited PLAYERS THAT CAN PLAY F'ING BASKETBALL! Bottom line How do players get better? Have anyone looked at our scout team (love the guys) but honestly, canthey have you our players get better! We look at our core talent and it really doesn't change much from year to year but we have always had guys that can bang and grind that helps the core get better! COME ON PEOPLE LET'S SPEAK some truth if we are going to point the pointers!"

"By the way MAGICMAN who is going to start in his place? This is not the Travis, Raymar or Suton players that you have out there on the floor! He earned his spot and there is not a person on that team capable of doing anything more than he does. Hell, if he comes off the bench, he is in within two minutes, so what's the point! Blame the people who should get blamed! They are ill-prepared going out there! Every play they have to turn to the bench and see if the coaches agreed to what they are doing.... If everything was coming together at practice there wouldn't be a need for half of the things that are not taking place on the court! Teach them how to box out, come off screens, help side defense and stop substituting so much. Allow the players to get in rhythm, you have to build confidence and the first mistake shouldn't send you to the bench.(Its called momentum) They don't capitalize on the other teams weaknesses such as: they don't force right-handed players to go left (that on the scouting report) they stopped the press and the is also on the scouting report and that they are not strong dribblers- SO BLAME IZZO, MONTY, DJ and Garland! They assumed that every player coming out of high school knows all these things and it obvious that they don't! Evaluate and assess your team weaknesses and play off their strengths and stop trying to have them do things that they are not strong at. That is way we are getting shot out because the coaches have not done what they are capable and suppose to be doing! Every team has gotten better because some one has shown them what they need to do, it is obvious that ours hasn't been shown. Our guys are talented but they need to be taught, other teams may not be as talented but they have been showed the technique and has polished their skills. Where our guys possess what they came in with and it has allowed us to win until the other guys that continuet o learn and work catches up and then they pass us!

BOTTOMLINE COACHES must TO COACH AND TEACH AND SHOW THE GUYS WHAT IS NEEDED!!!!STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND ACTING AS IF THE PLAYERS ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG! HELL THEY ALL HAVE BEEN IN THE GYM but what good is the gym if you don't know the what the L to work on."

To the OP, thanks for the heads up. It was interesting reading her take. Like a few others have said, I too been avoiding lots of threads in that forum lately because I just can't take some of the BS.

    not really "hard evidence",
but Green got voted "Most Inspirational" by the team at the awards banquet. Not sure what the story is there, but it doesn't seem like the team hates him.

Good point, who really knows what the team thought of Green ?

And who knows what Lucas & Summers brought to the table as far as leadership skills ?

If the SR's were not going to lead, then someone else needed to step up.Maybe the leadership thing kind of defaulted to Draymond.
