  • Hopefully this allows J Price and E Jones to redshirt. I mean if one of them is good enough to play right away then great, but I think TE is a position you want to redshirt more often than not.

    Solid get

I think this is beyond solid and in the GREAT get category. all of a sudden TE goes from a big worry to a strength to have a guy to go with SIms that's had a season in CC to get his grades together and can come in and play right away. I'm sure Drone was giving his all, but he's not a TE. This was my biggest concern on the offensive side of the ball, and now it's not one at all. love it.

Let's not get carried away, this guy is still young, has yet to play a snap at a high level and has less experience at TE on the college level then Drone-he played fullback last year. If he can provide quality depth, we should be happy. If he's red-shirted, we should understand.

This is very true. Let's just hope someone (or two) step up this Summer. Coach D likes to play 2 or 3 TEs and right now, we have 1 good option. These guys better be working with JUGS all Summer (and not the funbags)

Leave the funbags to me this summer, I'll shoulder that burden.

I'm not a subscriber so I didn't read the OP article. ... But you're right, we've had a lot of JUCO transfers in the past who basically needed a year to absorb everything before they could contribute. Hope this guy is a fast(er) learner!

all I mean is that i'm incredibly relieved to have another real TE on the team. we have Sims and Derek Hoebing...and then Drone making the switch. With Jones and Lang hurt/not ready it's a huge relief to have a big body who knows the position at least to give a little room to breathe. Sims has all the potential in the world to be a all B1G TE and should play the majority of snaps, and Hoebing can be the main blocker, but we desperately needed a body to fill in here and there. I don't expect more than 15-20 catches at the absolute most (probably more like 5-10 if he plays)....but his presence alone and potential up the road fills a huge need.

  • We need an Erik Knott/Kellen Davis type tight end, someone athletic and hopefully he can give us that, I cant tell by his highlights on youtube what type of tight end he is, it shows him mostly blocking and at d-end.

    Jay Sherbino

  • Yay! Blocking TE's are very important. Glad to see we have one with experience.
