Moving down the line, from DE to DT.

He may ultimately end up at DT as a result. MSU will rotate the top 4 guys at DE and DT, plus there are things like the Delta package that he could be involved in.

Looks like DE recruiting isn't quite that high of a priority this year. As you say, that's 4 guys who'll be at MSU from '13-'15 at DE. Figure take 1 guy in the '13 class and 2 in the '14 class.

FWIW, the staff did have Ramondo in that class originally, so I guess the plan was to have 4 DTs in 1 class. I really think the Delta package is going to get more and more specialized (i.e., specific 3rd down players). I know the "starters" at Delta right now are Gholston, Hoover and Rush, but the possibilities are pretty fun to play around with.

Depth matters more than just about anything in CFB. Having a deep DL is definitely a key to success. I agree with your point on class balance; this makes 3 DEs and 4 DTs in 1 class. That's a lot to replace in one year . . . providing people aren't going pro early/ changing positions. Oh well, I guess they figure the more talent, the better, and the cream will rise to the top.

All I know is that there is just no such thing as too much depth on the OL or DL so this sounds like a solid pickup for Dantonio & crew.

First of all, welcome to MSU!

And 3 of those 4 project to SDE with Calhoun being on the only WDE. You'd imagine one of the three moves to DT eventually. It's a wealth of talent and I know our coaches will find creative ways to get everyone on the field if they deserve it.

Hopefully we can pull 1 WDE like Cooper in this recruiting class.
