Actually, bad article. It does not compare him to any other big coaches as far as style, it simply implies that because he is somehow "transparent" about the kind of people he is trying to recruit, he gets those recruits. It does not mention anything beyond that simpleton explanation. Nor does it mention most schools would take those same recruits, Cal just happens to get them all for some WWW'in reason. Despite the fact he is rarely seen during the active summer period or is seen on any AAU/Nike/Addidas tour circuits, when every other coach in the country is there.
It also casually disregards the 7 prior seasons in which the same business model failed. IF uk wins this year, that would be 1 for 8, hardly earth-shattering odds with so much talent at your disposal.

Isn't the NCAA instituting a minimum graduation or Team GPA requirement for access to the tournament???
I remember watching the Syracuse opening round game and the announcers were saying that when the rule takes place, that this Syracuse squad would have been ineligible to compete.
NCAA preaches "student athletes", they should penalize teams with revolving doors like Kentucky.

I realize Kentucky fans are basically delirious, but I have to believe any thoughtful supporter among the lot will feel at least a slight sense of emptiness if they win it all. Rooting for Kentucky must be like rooting for a minor league baseball team. You know the players don't give a crap about the team, the town or the school.
I am certain that if those players were at MSU this year, I wouldn't have been nearly as excited about the team as I was about the one Izzo and Co. put on the floor this year. Would I root for them? Sure. Would it be cool to have a banner? Yeah. But in my gut I believe what's happening at Kentucky is at least partially responsible for slightly waning interest in college hoops.
Just my 2 cents.
