The coverage units last year were pretty disappointing, giving up a KR TD at Notre Dame and a PR TD against Georgia (along with some other long returns). Usually, you'd expect a team with depth at LB and DB to have pretty solid coverage. What was the reason for them coming up short last year?

The touchdown at Notre Dame was the result of one player, Taiwan Jones if I recall correctly, being out of position in coverage. Can't happen but keep in mind it was also just his third college game as a true freshman. Just watched that Georgia PR TD again and it looked like a few guys got sucked in, therefore getting out of position in their lanes, but Brandon Boykin is lightning quick and made some impressive cuts. Thought the coverage did improve throughout the year save that one play in the bowl game.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
