Monty Madaris?

synopsis of the synopsis?

Very concerned about this group. Arnet does not look to be in sinc yet, plus we don't know about his waiver. Fowler has been hurt a long time which will likely hinder his development. Was really hopefull for Caesar, gotta love his size and I hope he catches on fast. Lot of potential but it may be a tough passing year this season. Spartan's need to grab one or two big bodied WR this recruiting season.

What is the status of Fowler's injury?
What is the likelihood that Burbridge qualifies?
If you had to guess today, who is the two deep against BSU?

I only saw a couple of plays with DeAnthony at Tenn. and on one pass attempt over the middle DA clearly "chickened out" and alligator armed his attempt at the catch. During the Spring game he had one thrown to him over the middle. Not a great pass but it looked like DA was alligator arming that one as well. He is gonna need to make those catches to be big time.

On the other hand 13 out of 14 receivers are underclassmen. Me thinks that we better get the best recruit in the country at the position or simply pass and recruit other positions.

He's still only a true sophomore, and the spring game play may have just been a good decision - why hang yourself out to dry in a scrimmage? Who knows though, it could be a problem for him, but you can still be a hell of a college receiver even if you don't like going over the middle. Maybe not the best in the country, but still damn productive.

Your post got me thinking about Bill Shroeder, and all those dark memories came flooding back.

Only 3 of these guys need to step up. Last year only Cunningham, Martin and Nichol caught passes. The rest were running backs and TEs or had less than 5 receptions for the entire year.

Should be a really interesting fall camp to see who emerges here. Keep in mind MSU was without Fowler and Lippett for the spring game, making the receiving group look extra-bare, and Kings Jr., Burbridge and Madaris will have a chance to move into the playing group.

Mumphery is a key guy, in my opinion. If he reaches his potential and can put his athleticism to use MSU should have a good one there.

I had a theory last year that MSU would use Lippett, Fowler and Mumphrey as primarily "home run" threats; send them on fly routes to keep the other WRs well rested. You can definitely work multiple WRs in to an offense.

The issue here is the uncertainty as to who will perform. I have no doubt that MSU will get some quality production out of the WR position . . . but I just don't know where that's going to come from.
