I thought this was going to be about an article saying that John Stockton has issues with Magic Johnson on the Dream Team

Definitely have an issue with that dude's lid....seriously WTF?

Stockton will be noteworthy as the first sizable city to default into bankruptcy, but it won't be the last. I suspect that Stockton will also challenge the California law that public union employee pensions and benefits cannot be defaulted on (private sector employees, whether union or not, have no such protection), no matter how dire the financial problems the city may have.

This year, Stockton has a total budget of $196MM, and the total cost of retirment benefits (pension, healthcare, and principal and interest on related bonds) is $37MM. Dozens of Stockton retirees are paid over $100k in yearl pensions. That is simply not sustainable.

Bond holders should be nervous too. While bond holders have traditionally been the first creditor to be paid, the GM/Chrysler bailouts changed that dynamic when they were basically told to GTFO.

Builders were throwing up subdivisions in the boom times and mcdonalds workers from the Bay area were snapping them up on those no doc loans. There are now entire subdivisions that have like a 20% occupancy rate.

The big problem now is metal thieves who are going in and stripping the copper out of empty houses. That and the fact that its about 110 all summer long make it a miserable place....
