If your primary objective is for your offering to be unique I'll third the suggestion for New Holland's Hatter Royale Hopquila. I bought a bottle of this a few month's ago and have never tasted anything quite like it. It has overtones of both a mild whiskey and tequila. It's very versatile. I've had it on the rocks, with tonic, as a substitute for tequila in a Margarita, and my favorite drink using it, The Hopquila Sour:

4.5 oz Hopquila
1.0 oz Simple Syrup
Juice of half a lemon

Combine in a shaker with ice cubes, shake vigorously and strain into an old fashion glass neat or on the rocks.

It would also make for fine shots and would be good with a number of mixers such as 7up, Squirt or orange juice. I've become quite a fan of New Holland's spirits. Their vodka and whiskeys are great and their Knickbocker gin has become my go to for martinis and gin and tonics.

A buddy just snuck a bottle of Pappy 23 into the hospital to have a drink with me to celebrate the birth of my son.

I don't know how unique you would consider it but I effing LOVE Zaya rum.

I've found it at the Meijer in Grand Haven, who also carry New Holland's rum, vodka and gin (but not their whiskeys). But distribution is spotty, for example the Meijer in Norton Shores doesn't carry it (or any New Holland spirits for that matter). Unfortunately you may have to call around to check availability.

After reading this thread I am definitely going to be picking up some of the New Holland liquors.

Genever or Jenever

I've seen it in any party store with a good selection.. In Birmingham right off woodward at Kakos on 14/woodward. Right up the road at ML Liquor also off woodward. I got my current bottle at a party store in Livonia that was well stocked.

I've thought about buying a bottle for a long time. Is it worth it?
