Surprise ..... Brian Kelly not a tool.

Dude, you are a bit psycho. If you were joking (Craig James style) that would be one thing, but your other posts indicate you really believe that Kelly intended that the kid would die in that circumstance and that despite that knowledge he chose his actions.

    Bad choice? -- no doubt.
    Sad circumstance? -- absolutely
Intent to kill? -- come on, get real.

    Intent doesn't really minimize culpability.

Wait. So he threw his players under the buss stating he still does not have a Qb; then he blames his shitty teams on the former coaches; then his ass mentions how football needs ND; and you somehow think he is a good guy?

Exactly, sounded like a whole lot of "not my fault we suck" talk combined with a hint of ND arrogance.

When you're throwing around a legal term like "murder", it absolutely does.

Negligent homicide does sound more appropriate.

  • Why does this thread have so many up votes? Kelly came across as an arrogant dooshbag and the op fluffed him.

    Weird.

I'm glad to hear that Kelly is a personable guy, but he's being a little disingenuous about his inquiry about Maxwell. Let's not kid ourselves. . . he watched Maxwell demonstrate his significant abilities in HS, and knows he's been the backup for 3 years for an NFL QB, and may even have better physical tools than the NFL QB. . . and he's asking one of us of the RCMB whether we have a QB. If we said no. . . he's going to sleep easier at night? I believe the answer is an obvious yes that we have a real QB, and I think Coach Kelly knows it. Naturally only time will tell how accomplished Maxwell becomes.

yeah...that part is especially shady. EVERYONE knows Maxwell is 'the guy' - why would Kelly even ask that unless it was an underhanded dig?

Because Kelly has never had "the guy" so he doesn't know what it is like to have a definite QB before the season begins. The guy is always pulling his starter out at some point every year.

He didn't care at all about the poor kid's well being so imo he is a murderer. He totally disregarded his life.
Kelly was the MAIN reason he died.
Again, how is this shit thread getting upvoted??

You probably have to go back to Tony Pike when he last had "the guy," who of course was recruited by Coach D.

I have a feeling we're gonna see Gunner Kiehl for a few reasons. It provides a built in excuse for BK to struggle in his 3rd year abd will produce a nauseating media slobbering that jimmy clausen and Brady Quinn would be proud of.

If I recall correctly, Pike took over only after the other QB was injured.

    Nope other way around

Pike got injured then Zach Collaros took over

Uhhh....for a murder charge to stick, there must be intent. No intent, no murder. Without intent it could be manslaughter, but not murder.

But why would we want to confuse a good rant with such minor details?

Agreed. See above. Kelly was definitely the reason this kid had to be up there and consequently responsible for his death. Labeling it manslaughter is fine with me.

My youth baseball coach of many years is his sister in law. He's a very nice guy. There's no hiding it's his way or the highway, but he's always been a pleasant individual when I've met him.

If you've had as much success as Brian Kelly has had, I'm sure you'd have a little arrogance too. I liked how classy he was shaking Dantonio's hand after Little Giants.

Albert DeSalvo was also very charming and cordial.

  • Astonishing! People here rant without having facts! Just like the ND, OSU, UM, USCw, etc, boards, and every bit as judgmental.

Really? So the guy who, while bending over in his car to grab his donut when it slips off his lap, accidentally runs over a pedestrian and kills him, has the same culpability as a guy who goes out and buys a gun with the express purpose of killing a specific person, then kills that person? You really think that their "culpability" is the same? You think they should be punished the same way?

Wow. If you truly believe that, I hope you have a smooth, trouble-free life.
