Tell me about the Michigan football team...

If you're going to attend the game I suggest you get to the concession stand early. A large % of their fans have a girth similar to or greater then their head coach. Concessions may sell out by half time.

    I'm frightened.

Since we're playing them in the Outback Bowl, I need some info.

The only time I saw them all year was when they were getting murdered by Alabama.

Should we worry about the guy that can't tie his shoes?

Michigan has many teams beat before they even step foot on the field. While scUM can usually put decent talent on the field, even during the "Bo years" they were far from the "World Beaters" perception they have - their Rose Bowl record and fact they have exactly one shared Natiional Title in the last 60 years is all the proof you need.

Unfortunately the mental image many teams have when they see their pretty helmets is more than they can handle and immediately succumb to the magical aura that has been so cleverly created by the media and the U of M athletic department.

To Michigan's credit, unlike many teams they rarely beat themselves. If USC can get beyond the fact they are playing (gulp) "mighty" Michigan and simply play up to their abilitites while securing the ball, you shouldn't have a problem.

Good luck...the Cocks will have half the state of Michigan pulling for you!

Anyone who goes on to another team's board and calls a thread "cute" is a classic douche.

1- You're on the board of a team that finds yours despicable.

2- You feel the need to comment defensively to "protect" your team

3- You clearly don't grasp the facts behind the Lewan comment.

The result: you've demonstrated exactly the point that was being made about your fanbase. Thanks.

It's funny because no one has anything to say about the "Lewan is a racist". They just keep repeating it like a broken record. And just because he by some chance is a "dirty player" doesn't make him racist...I guess Suh for the Lions is racist towards white people. I haven't seen or heard anything, honestly, about Lewan saying or doing anything "racist".

Also, if you want to talk dirty players, see your boy Gholston trying to break a neck at the bottom of the pile. He must be racist.

Also if you want to comment on the classiness of fans, look no further that video clips of your stadium chanting "he's a pussy" when Braxton Miller went down. Your coaches feel the need to take stabs at Michigan even when Michigan is not the topic.(See response from Narduzzi about Taylor Martinez and how he had to talk about Denard). Take a look in the mirror before you go calling fans "douche nuggets" and classless.

As for the OP, if you head over to the Wolverine247 board, no one will call you a "douche nugget" or say people are queers. People will tell you about our team, some biased some unbiased. Most will break it down like SpartanRocky did.

Meh, it's a rivalry. It's very similar if someone was to come to our board asking about clemson.

I figured I'd get some entertaining responses, and as usual, tRCMB didn't disappoint.

If I got up in arms every time someone on Wolverines247 ripped on MSU, I'd have a stroke.

I don't think Lewan's racist; the "Tom" comments were in reference to RichRod not knowing Gholston's name on a recruiting visit. I do think he's a dirty player; Craig Roh said that verbatim. Then again, most good OL have a dirty streak to them.

The S. Car guy asked us for info. We're giving him our opinion. I'm sure if he went on Wolverine247 and asked about MSU he would get nothing but straight information and not one slight against the program. uhoh

As far as the team, they're fundamentally sound. The new staff have improved that element significantly. If you do not put them away when you have the chance, you could leave yourself victim to some 'rainbow, wounded duck' style completion late in the game. A bit like a vampire, if your team gets the stake over their heart during the game. Plunge it deep. Rinse. Repeat.

As far as the fans - just take a look at the posters name Yankee--UM ##. I'm sure there are many New Yorkers who came to school in lovely Ann Arbor, perhpas this guy did.. It's ironically accurate though of 80% of the bandwagon followers. You'll have Cowboys - UMich or ManUnited-UMich or DaleEarnhardt-UMich. An unwashed mass of bandwagon, slack jaws.

No, he didn't. That story was completely made-up and fabricated by a member of this board who claimed he "knew what was said." He got called out and admitted to having no source and no basis for that claim, but that was six pages deep in the thread and apparently half this board has forgotten about it.

No one knows what Lewan said to Gholston while he was holding his head down, but I can pretty much guarantee you it wasn't just "Tom."

What he said. If you get a lead, just keep adding it to it. Forget "sportsmanship" with these toolbags. They aren't going to shake your hand if they lose anyway. If you think at anytime in the game that you have a big enough lead...you don't . Score more. SCum never knows when they are beat even after the game is over. They will never conceed a game or admit afterward that you beat them or were the better team. It is always about what they didn't do...mainly..."We didn't play Michigan football."

Like he said about them being a vampire...plunge the dagger deep into their heart...if you can find it that is...and then cut off the head after that!

    You should be worried

They know how to handle cocks

First, to the OP, "they're Michigan." According to their head coach (who is not slim by the way) this pretty much sums up all you need to know about them - which is probably true because by saying that their coach exhibits arrogance and douche-baggery.

Second, to T-Pain, there is no worry because this game is not going to occur at night-time on the front porch (or outside of a ground-floor window) of some dwelling in Ann Arbor.

They have 1/2 a Nat'l Championship in the past 65 years. Yes, you read that correctly. You'd think they've won about 15 in that time frame from hearing them talk about their "history", correct?

That tells you what you need to know about UM. A lot of talk, self-perceived greatness, but very little high level performance. No different with this year's UM team. A "name" team with very little substance.

Yup. Rich Rod kept calling Will Gholston "Tom" on his recruiting visit because he thought that was his name. He was a 5-star prospect at this point.

Lewan called Gholston "Tom" a couple times during the 2011 game. Things got chippy between the two.

I don't care if you read it elsewhere, the source of that unsubstantiated rumor was this board. Gholston and Lewan did not discuss it. It's fucking ridiculous that the rumor has been perpetuated to this extent.

If you think Gholston is so violent and hot-headed that being called "Tom" would make him throw a punch, you don't know much about him.

Yes, but only if he isn't playing QB. If he's playing QB, expect your rush to force him into poor throws.

They have a very opportunistic defense and a fundamentally sound secondary. They run a 4-3 under with SAM Jake Ryan playing at the LOS often; it'll look like a 5-2 or a 3-4 at times. He's their best rusher, though he's an LB (14.5 TFL, IIRC).

They aren't particularly stout against the run; they have some big DTs, but they're more space eaters than playmakers. The aforementioned Clark and DE Craig Roh are decent, though Roh seems to be a case of never-reached expectations (along with DT Will Campbell).

Offensively they're a read-option team transitioning into a pro-style. QB Devin Gardner is a big guy (6'4/6'5 225ish) who played WR earlier this year. He took over when Denard went down and is a better passer. Not as fast as Denard, but harder to wrap your hands around. He's good for 1 broken play 59 yard pass/game.

Their RBs are kind of "meh". Thomas Rawls is a power back, but they don't quite have the OL/TE/FB to do that effectively. Their best spread RB, Fitz Toussaint (who had over 1000 yards and over 5.5 YPC last year) had a poor season and hurt his leg; he's out.

Receivers have pretty darn good hands. 5'8 Jeremy Gallon is very tough can can make some pretty nice YAC. Roy Rountree went from stud as a Sophomore (900+ yards, 7 TDs) to an afterthought last year and most of this year . . . and now he's averaging just under 100 YPG in his last 4. He's 5'11/6'0 180ish, plenty of speed. They have a true FR TE Devin Funchess who's 6'5 225 and acts as a RZ threat/big WR. Hasn't gotten a ton of looks, but he could be worked in more.

Their punter, Hagerup, has a huge leg; if he had enough attempts, he would have the best punt yardage in the conf (MSU's punter is #1 absent Hagerup). Their kicker is reliable from about 42 yards in. Not a ton in their KR/PR games; watch for true FR Dennis Norfleet at KR though.

UM lurkers are free to correct anything, I'm just going off the cuff here.

    Good analysis.
