You really have to become involved in communities or know a lot more than I do about computers to make the deep web interesting. Hidden wiki was fun to browse for a couple nights but that's it. Way too much cp down there too.

This! I d/l'd TOR and I tried to go use it and I got this message:
The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. What do I do now?

Well, I read up on it a bit the last time this came up.
First of all, people are just interested in what else is out there. Especially something with an outlaw reputation like the Deep Web.
I learned that Bit Coins are the currency of the Deep Web, and literally anything is for sale. There lies the problem, they aren't selling stuff that Walmart carries, it's illicit (and sometimes sickening) stuff.
There's a place called the Silk Road where any kind of drug imaginable is for sale. Apparently, it's real, though I'm sure there are organized crime types that have ripped off newbs.
One of the problem with the Deep Web is that posters there think it's funny to mis-label something interesting, and when you click it, you find yourself in a child porn online store. Sick stuff like that, stuff that can get you arrested and put on a sex offender list. Just good LOLs for the pranksters in the Deep Web.
I also read that it's really hard to navigate, and you probably need someone that knows their way around. Most of the pages on the internet aren't indexed, and that's done by design.
Oh, and use a TOR browser, or you're going to have every somewhat skilled hacker perusing your hard drive (and perhaps looking at you through your webcam). Even with a TOR browser, I'm sure you're risking getting yourself hacked much more than you would anywhere else.
I do have a TOR browser, but I only use it to do "invasions" on a certain message board. [wink]
