What's really funny is that people get butt-hurt when I say the Hunger Games is like pron for girls.
Making a movie where there's a female lead with a love triangle is like printing money.

Anyone who thinks that this movie is for preteen girls doesn't know what they're talking about. I didn't know much about it going in, but it was much better than I expected.

I'm also curious to know how many TICKETS were sold compared to the other movies on the list.
Movie gross is a flawed statistic since ticket prices always go up.

Loved the books, really liked the movie. I thought it moved too fast, though, and didn't let things develop. But they didn't really leave anything out, so I guess that's why. The casting and acting was AMAZING. Now I want to see it again.
And to anyone who thinks this is for silly 13-year-olds: it's not. The books are fairly violent, so they had to tone it down in the movie to avoid an R-rating. I went to the midnight showing and most of my theater was people over 18, both guys and girls. I'm 23, and I went with a friend who's the same age, her 28-year-old boyfriend, one of his friends, and another friend who's 20. My 27-year-old boyfriend was bummed he couldn't go.

Saw it, thought it was solid but not spectacular. Follows the book plot almost to a T. The books are actually really good largely because of the psychology and the internal conflict that goes on in them. That stuff is hard to capture in a movie but I think the did a decent job getting the basics. If they weren't worried about money they could have made the movie really violent and thus better and IMO more powerful. One of the reasons I enjoyed the books is that they were just plausible enough to get you thinking.

I read all three books and saw the movie. I thought it was pretty true to the story line and was all around a solid movie. It was slow at points and missed on some of the competing characters but there's only so much you can cover in a movie.
Anyone that thinks they're too tough to read The Hunger Games are probably insecure little bitches. It's a decent read.

saw it last night in IMAX and was pretty cool. i've read the books, and as pointed out earlier, what makes the books so good is the sheer amount of psychology and emotions that the characters evolve through. a 7.5/10 would be about right.
