The Killing on AMC

Jesus. This kinda makes me mad, actually. Not that I won't watch for a second season to make more fun of it, but how in the fuck can Terriers, Detroit 187, and Lights Out be one and done while this piece of shit show gets renewed?

AMC has fewer spots than FX and ABC. They only have a handful of shows to begin with, they can afford to take a flyer on an experimental show or something with right around average ratings. Rubicon just must not have had as high of ratings.

  • I feel like women are keeping this show afloat, my mom and sister both watch it and they don't watch anything but Grey's Anatomy. lolshrug

I haven't quit watching a tv show before the first season ended since.........................I can't even remember. Oh well, I'm going to have to try out that Treme show I guess. It looked kind of boring, but if The Wire guy wrote it it has to be pretty good.

She was pretty good as an actress on True Blood, In Treatment, and Battlestar. She doesn't exactly have a role with a wide range in The Killing though.

I agree. She was really good in true blood. this series isnt for her.

I hope they take the show to a different city and just get a brand new cast for the whole show. Have new detectives and a completely different case in a new city.

  • Just finished this week's episode. I am glad that this series was able to produce 5 more compelling minutes.

    It's not Richmond. Fake.

Richmond gets arrested for it. But the key piece of evidence (security cam footage on a bridge of him driving the car she was killed in on the night she was killed) turns out to be fake & created by Holder. Who is he working for? No idea. Why was it done? No idea. Who actually killed Rosie Larsen? No fucking clue.

Oh, and as Richmond is being led into a squad car after being booked, Belko emerges from the crowd to shoot him. But does he shoot him? Does he kill him? No one knows because they cut to black as he points the gun.

What the hell was that? They are just pulling shit out of their ass now.

  • They should call this show "The Filling" to account for all of the plot holes they're going to have to explain in Season 2.

So we are supposed to believe that Holder/Co-conspirator think that the loop is closed and they have outsmarted everyone now that they have doctored a photo from a toll station that has nonworking cameras? I'm sure a defense attorney wouldn't figure that out. Let alone local media, or anyone with half of a brain.

And poor innocent Gwennie, never even gave a second thought to it when her lover returned to bed after being out all night with his clothes, soaking, even after one of his campaign cars was pulled from a lake with the body of a teenage hooker in it?

Then there's frigid bitch Linden. So she has had the determination and wherewithal to stick with this case even as her impending marriage and relationship with her son crumbles, but as soon as a photo surfaces she bolts for the airport? No need to stick around even another second? And then we are also supposed to believe that Oakland guy is going to still be waiting for her with open arms when she comes back, despite him camping out outside her apartment a few weeks back and issuing her an ultimatum of sorts?

And then there's the Larsen family. Ahh, yes. The suckiest suck of an incredibly sucky show. Every time they show Mitch/Midge/whatever her name is staring at something in agony I want to punch myself in the throat. I think if you added up the time that they displayed these "facial agony" shots during any given episode, it would probably account for a full 20 minutes. It's just horribly painful to watch anything to do with her and that family, and it has been pretty much since Episode 2.

Then there's Stan, who beats a man within an inch of his life and is free on bail 2 days later. And also free to march up to the victim's hospital bed and stare at him with regret. I'm not sure what kind of mechanisms a hospital would have in place to prevent this, but I would have to think that hospital staff or SOMEONE would have recognized this dude given the high profile nature of the case and called security. Or that Ahmed would have a guard outside of his room or something.

Just insane. I can't understand how they can make a single murder case last not only 1 entire season, but 2.

Simmons is a good writer, but there have been actual TV critics that have done a much better job & then some than Simmons ever could.

  • Started strong, spent way too much time with the obvious red herring Bennett storyline, then left us hanging at the end.

Overall decent to watch but the Bennett thing just took up way too much time when we all knew he wasn't the killer.

No problem with the ending for me. However, I did have a problem with the episode where Lindon's kid was missing. Maybe I am not a deep thinker and missed the subtle connections, but that whole episode seemed completely irrelevant and a waste of time.

  • I understand folks frustrations with the show and, lord knows, I questioned why I continued watching it more than a few times.

That said, I liked the ending and will be tuning in next season to see where it goes. My thinking, right now, is that he's obviously being set up. I think it's Charles Whitmore aka the senator whose daughter is the candidates campaign manager/lover whose behind the whole thing.

Breaking Bad is a great show.

    Just love it.

I had heard good things about the show and I loved Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle, but I had no idea how fabulous Breaking Bad was. My wife and I started about a six weeks ago renting two disks from Season 1. Blockbuster's too far away and we had too much already out from Netflix, so we ending up buying Seasons 2. We knocked that off in a weekend. Then Season 3 came out on June 7 and we were done with that by Saturday June 11. Now we are impatiently waiting for Season 4 to start next month.
