Have any of you ever dabbled in it or messed around with it, or would any of you dare mess with any of that stuff? I'm a little fascinated with the subject, although I would never mess around with it. I bet someone has some interesting experiences with it.....
Don't post poop!

The Occult (black magick) tends to attract those who feel very powerless or disenfranchised in life. As a friend of mine recently said, "the occult attracts a lot of 'wounded' weirdos looking to feel powerful." These folks are all about "sticking it" to others or trying to conjure power that they can try to use for their personal gain at the expense of others.
If you are interested in learning about using magick for protection, healing, or helping yourself or others through positive or "white" means, I suggest picking up some books on Hoodoo or Root Work, which is African American Folk Magick. Similar beliefs can also be found among the white Appalachian population who practice "folk remedies" or "folk medicine" for healing and protection.
Root Work is an interesting subject, I know a number of root workers here in Greensboro, and I've learned a few protection spells from them, but I don't have the patience or the desire to put in the years of study to become a practitioner myself.

I had an aunt who dabbled in it. Mainly messing with the spirits of directions. She could get a card table to levitate and then knock on the floor to answer questions. Also had a friend who was into channeling in the late 80's when it was the rage. She said she once had a spirit appear to her in the form of her dad who left her as a child. A fellow channeler told her the spirit was not her dad, but a bad spirit trying to get into her via her most vulnerable part. She quit doing it at that point. As far as spells, and protection, I have no idea if that works...and as far as the devil or satanism, I don't think it is necessarily related. I think standard "magic" is working with spirits of the dead, whereas black magic is evil spirits.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
