Yeah, forget defending this guy, he's nuts.

The rationale would be that he doesnt need a group of organized survivors coming in disrupting his empire.
You see Andrea struggling with that internal conflict, the desire to just become normal again vs. living in a world of the dead.
Most people would give into that, and wouldnt question the morality of someone who has "given" them so much.

An organized group of trained soldiers might not agree with how he runs things, or might think they can run it better, that would be a threat.
So eliminate the threat before it even manifests.

Trying to think of a way to defend that move.

Maybe he's just trying to preserve a good guy to girl ratio? Might destabilize the community to have more men than women around.

He wanted their stuff. That's it. Wanted their stuff and didn't want to share resources.

If he's even half as deranged in the show as he is in the comics...oh boy!

Labor is a very valuable resource if you want to rebuild civilization.

He has no interest in rebuilding civilization though. Seems like he really likes being the chief of that little hamlet, and is bent on controlling their population by fear.

  • Dude wants complete control, enlisted soldiers aren't exactly the type to take orders from a civilian they don't know.

^This. Govenor is the best part of the comic. I'm guessing they can't show half the stuff on TV.

So does he get off somehow sitting in his chair looking at those heads? Also what in the hell is with the tea? I maybe thought they laced it with some sort of truth serum to get Andrea to spill on the info on her former group.

Def something weird about the tea, they made it pretty obvious mentioning it every 15 seconds.

That storyline is kinda bleh for me on it's own, glad they will merge soon.

I get the sense the storylines might be kept seperate for a while. Next weeks episode make reference that there is someone else in that prison that Rick and Co will have to deal with.

  • Tea would be a precious commodity, just like in the days of yore. Don't you people read "Prince Valient" in college anymore?

I'm thinking it's a "life-boat dilemma". They only have so much food, meds, water etc. inside Woodberry. The lady giving the girls a tour said 70somthing people live there. If 20 more army guys move in your food supplies are now 25% short. Someone is going to go hungry. Now adding two women only increases the population 2-5%; Should be enough food; nobody is going to starve.

Killing the army guys and taking their stuff was the right decision. They would have capsized the life-boat.

Yeah, there's definitely someone there with them which was hinted at at the end of last weeks episode when it showed someone looking at Carol from the trees. I figured it was Merle, but I guess not...

Are we really questioning why they want 2 chicks instead of a bunch of guys? That sausage fest needed some more buns.

Definitely think it had more to do with the Governor keeping power in Woodbury. It's easy to keep control over a ragtag group of survivors, especially when you've given them a purpose and order in their lives. Throw in a trained platoon of soldiers, and all of a sudden you have not only a heavily armed and well trained group that's separate from your authority, but one that carries with them the authority of what was the legitimate government. That's bad news for a warlord like the Governor.
