    Minus well scrap the move?

Or how bout in Jerry McGuire when he walked in and asked for Rene Zellawanger and goes on his I love speech and she says, " You had me at hello."

HE NEVER SAID HELLO! Wtf. I totally just went and blew your movie mistake right out of the water! ...and BOOMGOESTHEDYNAMITE.

Oh but he did. Did it when he first walked in when all the ladies were talking so you could barely notice itnerd

seems a little off to me. The bet was originally for 20,000 and during the round was upped to 40,000. Ok fine but on the last hole Chevy says to Noonan, "dont worry about this one, if you miss it we lose". Well he made it so wouldn't that be a tie??? Now I do know a second bet was made on the putt (double or nothing) but wouldn't that signify a loss on the first bet??? You go double or nothing when you lose a bet.. What say you on this???

The putt was to tie, but Rodney changes the bet to double or nothing that he makes the putt- $80,000. If he misses it they lose. If he makes it, they win.

  • Besides, having explosions knock the ball into the cup would PROBABLY not be accepted as legit by any impartial golf referee.

That said, methinks that Community should inject some kind of Caddyshack reference into a Pierce Hawthorne-centric episode (perhaps even a Bill Murray cameo). What say you?

Strongly disagree. A similar thing happened in Billy Madison, and the judges made him played through. Slugger had to play through, too, when the ball landed on the giant's foot. And that was on the pro tour, so I am sure the judges in Caddyshack followed protocol.

  • A few weeks ago they had an end scene with Pierce trying to get soft serve ice cream in the cafeteria.

I laughed hard because Chase was basically doing a Clark W. Griswold act. It was excellent.

A Ty reference would not be surprising.

I say you're over-analyzing a great movie. But you're probably right - you may have caught one of those moments like in "Back to the Future" when the professor was wearing velcro tennis shoes - before velcro was used on tennis shoes. Or the Ferrari in the background of Ben Hur during the chariot races...

I saw a great documentary on the making of Caddyshack. It was Harold Ramis' first stint as a director. He admits he had no idea what he was doing. He didn't know how to frame scenes. The original script centered much more on the young caddy, but there was too much comedic talent not to use it.

Someone pointed out that in Bill Murray and Chevy Chase they had the two hottest comedians on Earth, yet they had no scenes together. So they inserted the scene with them in Bill Murray's shed, which was one of the funniest in the movie.

Rodney Dangerfield's over the top character was just Rodney being Rodney.

An accidental blockbuster driven by sheer talent.

I once watched "with commentary" on the DVD.

They said the scene with Bill Murray doing the classic "at Augusta" bit merely read "bishop walks up as Carl chops the tops off flowers" in the script.

    This is so wrong.

    1. The ball is still in motion (at least to me, but if you want to argue that it isn't, I'll respect that). So the stroke has not finished and the referee (Bill Murray's brother, btw) cannot rule it as complete and a miss.

    2. A player has 30 seconds to address his ball. So even if it has come to rest, Danny can tie his shoes and take his time getting to the ball to mark it or to play it. If it happens to go in within that time, then it counts.

I saw that doc. too. Very interesting. I wish they had made a movie out of the nightly parties they talked about in the movie.

Also, whoever posted that the bet was changed to whether Danny would make the putt or not is correct.

Are people allowed to set off explosions, direct leaf blowers at the ball, shoot pellets at the ball, jump up and down near it, drive tanks onto the green, carve away the lip of the cup with a chainsaw and/or kick the ball into the hole during those 30 seconds?

Just wondering what the parameters of 'interference' are. If setting off explosions to shake the ground is permitted, why wouldn't simply blowing the ball in with a leaf blower be allowed?

    Golf is a crazy game.
