have to disagree with you on Inge.

Here's his errors when playing 3rd full time starting in '05.

    '05 - 23 in 160 games
    '06 - 22 in 159 games
    '07 - 18 in 150 game
    '08 - 1 in 51 games
    '09 - 20 in 161 games
    '10 - 9 in 144 games
    '11 - 9 in 99 games

Miggy has 6 error at about 25% of the season that puts him on pace with Inge's 20+ error seasons

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fielding/_/order/true

Look at both prince and fielders fielding % compared to everyone else at their positions.

They are both ranked towards the very bottom.

Cabrerra is also tied for the second most errors for 3b in the majors with 6 and the 3rd worst fielding %. His range has actually been pretty good though.

Fielder has been a disaster so far at first. Ranked 23rd out of 24 players at first in fielding % and range, he also has the most errors (ranked last).

What makes it worse is that Cabrerra is a good first baseman.

  • Neither was expected to be playing like A-Rod and Texeria.

The Tigers braintrust is counting on their offense to trump their defensive liabilities.

    So far, not so good.

  • Eff this team. Most especially, eff anyone who says "it's still a long season" or "you can't blame the coaches" Those are losers mentalities. This ship is sinking. Even if Leyland brings it out of the water and sails it with mild success, this should be his last season. He's run his course in this locker room. You can tell based on the pathetic effort given on a day in, day out basis. Very much like Guillen in Chicago or Francona in Boston last year. A new voice is needed.

It's been hilarious seeing the excuses evolve from the blowhard fans.

    1. The weather is cold, wait til it heats up.
    2. Fielder needs to adjust to a new league.
    3. Wait til Fister gets back.
    4. Schedule is brutal right now.. Wait til we get Seattle and Minny
    5. Remember last year when they were 7 out and still won by 15 games

  • Nice meltdown by Brookens and Leyland today. Not that they were wrong - just saying.

  • Leyland should swap all the hitters for Detroit with the ones from Toledo. It's not like they could do any worse.

This ship is going nowhere fast. Leyland is headed for a meltdown of monumental proportions. Maybe he'll slap himself like John L. Yes, the season is long, but that's looking more and more like a curse rather than a blessing.

    Its five o'clock somewhere.

What new hitting coach? The same hitting coach that has Jackson having a career year and has also helped out Dirks and Berry to very nice improvements?

Or was it the hitting coach that got career years out of Raburn, Peralta, Avila and Miguel last year? Take your pick.

I've been calling for McClendon to get canned for years. Look what Granderson did when he got to NY and worked with a real hitting coach. But unlike Knapp, McClendon is a Pittsburgh buddy of Leyland and is untouchable, the same as the senile 3rd base coach we've suffered through for years. Nothing is going to change here.

My comment 2 months ago when this thread started. Glad to admit I was wrong and Dumbrowski brought in Harrah to salvage the season.

Career year out of Raburn? Seriously? Did you just reference Raburn as some sort of compliment ? This is by far the biggest reach I have read on this board.

The fellas started hitting the day they brought up that hitting coach from Toledo to help McLendon. It does confirm what many thought and Dombrowski saw the same thing. Nothing wrong with having an extra set of eyes.

Jackson came out of spring training hitting on a tear. Not sure who helped him in Florida this spring with keeping that front foot down but its made a huge difference. The only person that should really get credit for Cabrera is Cabrera. I think with Avila the improvement is related to his knees feeling better. Glad the Tigers are winning. I hope they keep it up. Just think what this team would be like if they had a second baseman that could hit, like Polanco.

Great win today for the sweep.
