The mass exodus of players from PSU football is beginning

Except for your former head coach.

And our offense also sucked. BOB had no trouble releasing him from scholarship this spring (which he did after spring practice, but didn't find a landing spot that was worth it). The issue had more to do with lack of scholarship QBs with Jones' academic troubles than anything else. Jones is now eligible and Bench is now at PSU, hence no more need for him.

Yea, PSU qb play is traditionally really strong. Besides a few fluke years when they had a running back playing qb (see clark and robinson) PSU qb play is atrocious. Kerry Collins is the only one worth a damn going back 20+ years. Zach Mills? Kevin Thompson? Rashard Casey? pukeface

I agree, he wasn't good, but to say that a kid who was a frequent starter wasn't even wanted in the years he was starting is is silly.

Disagree, he had no reason to be starting. He was decent at the beginning of his freshman year but mentally destroyed after coming back from injury. if that injury never happened, who knows where PSU would be. Think about the reasons he was starting. We had one other scholarship QB, Jones academically ineligible, and a walk-on who earned a scholarship. Newsome bailed too early imo. PSU had the worst QB situation in the conference. There was a stat the other day how Bolden's career passer rating is worse than Jefferson's in the title game. That's really pathetic.

Most of us just feel bad for Bolden. It's best for both sides for him to get a fresh start elsewhere, but he was never going to do anything worthwhile at PSU.

Did I ever say it was great? I rather have the guys you mentioned tbh. I'm not expecting Clark's and Robinson's every year, but I also don't expect the conference's worst quarterbacks either.

Nobody has wanted Bolden for two years. But I never said we didn't want Fera, Redd, Fortt, or Pollard. All three either were playing a big role or would in the future. Anyone saying otherwise is in denial. I never said we didn't want Buckley, I just didn't get why he was getting such publicity on ESPN. Nowicki probably would have started one year or so, which is still contributing and important. The only other player is Haplea and I was never a fan of him.

So out of all the guys we lost there were two I didn't want: Bolden and Haplea. Bolden for obvious reasons and Haplea I never cared for.

    Very reasonable.

    Hey PSUfan28,

Tell your PSU brothers over on your board to stop being a bunch of pussies. Many of us went over there to talk while the verdict was coming down, and we basically were all banned.

You as a fan base would get more respect if you guys came out of your bubble, and accepted the fact you aren't perfect, took the criticism like men, and moved forward.

You aren't what you once were, accept it. The attitude of your fan base has been one of the more disturbing parts of the scandal since it broke, other than the actual crimes themselves.

Most of the Country thinks you people are bat shit crazy.

I said earlier, I think it's a great idea just for the game planning alone when you play PSU. That is huge.

With the millions of dollars they are paying their coaching staffs, and all the hundreds of thousands, if not millions more, big time college programs put into their video capabilities these days, I would find it highly egregious if they put a college age kid in a position to have to do that. If the kid offers it up, that's one thing. If the coaching staff goes to him demanding that type of inside information, than they are not earning their paychecks.

I said the worst is probably yet to come. I think the most substantial losses will come after the season. Some people won't like the new system, some people's feelings will get hurt, etc and transfer when this crap happens again come the offseason.

The mods have been a little ban-happy. I understand there purpose of trying to prevent stuff before it gets rough, but it does get a little over the top. There were a few people that were looking for trouble and that screws it for the masses.

Addressing the "bat shit crazy" part, I do think a good portion of the fan base is in way to big a case of denial. I'm a member of the Columbia (SC) PSU group and their fb group really irks me at times. People are still JoePa delusional and it bothers me. I think some people are overgeneralizing about the whole PSU fan base, but I'll admit there's a significant stringent I don't agree with.

Most are shocked because they've never been out there and seen it first hand. My wife's cousins are Penn Staters and really good people...we went out there about 10 years ago for a wedding and ALL their friends and former classmates were very similar to SCum alums/fans: arrogant, douchey and overbearing. So no, this doesn't surprise me a bit: kharma is indeed, a bitch.

    Ahhhh. The "mama" card.

Illness factors into Fera's decision to leave PSU - Yahoo! Sports

From Yahoo! Sports: STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Penn State lost a special teams ace to Texas, while two more Nittany Lions have left Happy Valley without ever playing a game for first-year coach Bill O'Brien.

  • I haven't been monitoring this too closely - but one thing I've noticed - seems when a Penn Stater jumps ship - they bolt the whole B1G. At first, I thought they might transfer "in-house", head over to another B1G school. Perhaps that's "too close to home" - and they just want to get the hell outta Dodge. Go west coast, east coast, down south?

It might be as simple as a lot of them simply don't want to end up on the opposite sidelines playing Penn State. I'm sure there is a certain amount of guilt by these guys transferring after they all made the commitment not to leave.
